Mazda Cosmo 13B-RE engine swap.

I have an 87' RX-7 Turbo II and I want to do the Cosmo 13B engine swap. I'll be running an after market single turbo setup, so I want really have to worry about ECU modifications right? (Though I am considering stand alone). I would appreciate information on motor mount modifications and prices of the motor. Tips and warnings, reasons why I probably shouldn't do it. (Though I really want to).

Yes, unfortunately because I'm living in Cali now. I wouldn't be if I were still in SC.

I don't have alot of tips or anything like that but im speaking from my personal experience im doin a 13b-re swap in my Fc right now and with the banzai swap brackets the engine fits right in with regular stock mounts for a fc without any modifications. Im using a t2 tranny and a lightweight flywheel with counter weight. Ull need a s5 turbo flywheel or an aftermarket one cause the RE only comes automatic.ull need to install a pilot bearing as well. The stock oil cooler lines will work just fine.im using a stock S4 turbo at the moment,it all mounted fine and exhaust went on with no problems.ull need the banzai block off plates as well there pretty cheap so its not to bad.Im not done with my project yet just giving u a heads up on some stuff.about a month ago I started the engine on a s5 t2 computer but I decided to go haltech e6k so im in the process of installing that now.im no rotary pro but ill gladly answer anymore questions u may have to the best of my knowledge and experience.

One more thing is that the fc3spro page suggest a e6k haltech .the problem is that the e6k can't control the electric oil metering pump wich comes on the RE.so unless u plan on using premix or changing the front cover u might want to look At a E8 or something newer.

We documented our entire conversion on our S5 vert, this may help you determine if this project is something you really want to do. http://www.banzai-racing.com/br_projects_vert_pg5.htm

We prefer the Apexi Power FC, our S4 adapter will allow you to use your S4 engine harness and have a plug and play ECU. http://banzai-racing.com/store/S4_PFC_adapter.html

The FC oil cooler lines connect to the bottom of the block on the rear iron, the 13b-re connects to the oil filter pedestal, we have stainless lines to make a cleaner install then having the FC metal linestretched across the spark plugs http://www.banzai-racing.com/store/F...ler_lines.html

BANZAI_RACING is right about the oil cooler lines I was gonna go with there stainless steel lines but didn't have the funds to do it at the time. The stock lines don't look as clean but they work.

Dude I really appreciate all the information you're giving me. I'm trying to learn as much as I can about this swap before I start it. And thanks for telling me about the flywheel becuase I didn't even think of it. Apparently Bonzai is a great place to look in regards to this swap. Thanks.

That project was epic. Super clean, the setup was amazing. Makes me want to do it even more now, so I'm definitely doing it now. And thanks for showing me the harness adaptor, I never knew it existed, I think it'll make things alot easier
