How can i tell what model my FD is?
I stopped looking up VINs as the site I was using had a Russian URL. They required that you click through for each search. Also they offered free downloads of manuals, which means they would have access to you hard drive for a long time.
Moreover, they had set up searches for all kinds of cars, by guessing the range of the possible serial numbers.
This all could be legit because the Russians have long been buyers of used Japanese cars and they need manufacrur date for there import pusposes.
Other search engines on other sites lead back to the Russian URL.
So be careful.
I think Akagi has another source.
Good luck!

I learned it is just a 95 type rb that must have been upgraded to a higher spec
I am not searching any more, because I am not sure the site I was using was secure. Akagi might have a different source.

And yes, I still do Build Sheets between sessions on the FD Wiring Bible.
Try running a report from: autocheck.jp
For $35 you will get a pretty comprehensive report on your car's history in Japan.
Otherwise the tag on the doorjam, if still there, should list the "Grade" of car: Which means "Model Type"
