My vin says fd3s plus 6 digits. It's also jdm so it does look like your missing some numbers. Get him to send you a pic of the firewall vin. Also being a type RZ does it have the recaro seats and passenger foot rest?

This looks fishy to me...

Are you importing this car from the UK?

Ironically I bookmarked those same exact photos from a UK GTR forum awhile back. The for sale ad is from 2008.

See for yourself and good luck.

I did a google image search and found the pic. Here is the original photos off flicker.

He definitely photoshopped/painted the last 3 digits. For the owner's safety?...maybe. Or if He (the thief) stole the photos from this site and lied about having all the photos is a likely possibility too.

Here is the Link to the Entire Photo album.

Jako, something really doesn't sound right. The pics provided are definitely the same car as dlek and birdhouse found. There are too many cars out there to take a chance. I would walk away as your importer is not playing it totally straight.

You could look at Gibby's car. I know it's legit, as I saw it being tuned, and the pics in his add were taken about 2 minutes from my house, so, I know they aren't 6 years old from the UK.

This is a Scam walk away now... end all communications with that person.... Go with Gibby's or wait till something closer is available

That vin as been photoshoped so you can't check that it already being used.

if you are not sure about gibby's thewird is very reputed on here and he can vouch for it..

Good luck.

I ran the VIN and it does look like it comes up as a 1996 vehicle (February I believe). It's kind of strange that the vehicle data sheet he sent you a photo of contained English and French, but not a lick of Japanese Either way, the photo he showed you of the VIN must be something they made for auction of in the UK, maybe? It would explain the bar code, as I just checked my car for a bar code and saw nothing.

Jako13 - I hope you don't have money into this deal already, it certainly sounds/looks/smells scamtacular. Who is the importer, if you don't mind my asking? I'm with the "walk away" crowd, if you possibly can.

if anyone knows the owner these photos are from 2006,
unfortunately i do have some money tied up in this, the importer is a friend and he is claiming that he received the pictures from the company in japan that he purchased it off of, if there is any way we can find the owner of this car i can clear things up.

it is a long story how i got into this mess and i would rather not share it,
the point it i am puliing out of the deal my money will be refunded but the importer is going to sue the exporter for damages so he wants me to help him find out where this specific car is now so he can prove he was scammed therfore scamming me

It's strange that your friend used a Japanese exporting service, especially since the vehicle was obviously in the UK. The photos that your friend showed you could very well be the same vehicle, however, the years have definitely passed and current condition of the vehicle could be drastically different. I'm with everyone else on backing out of this unless further proof can be provided. Good luck.
