Sept 9, 1992
Database confirms car was produced on September 9, 1992, Colour PZ, Type RZ.
Congratulations you have a very rare car! |
Well chuffed with that! Thanks very much for your time really appreciate it😁
Hope to chat again you are a very knowledgable guy wish there was more like you! Regards Bri |
Hold on to your Recarro Seats!
According to Brian Long's extensive history of the RX-7, which was just re-released, the RZ was first released (only in Japan) on October 1st, 1992 and that only 300 were made. This makes your production date of September 9, 1992 very interesting. The version was the project of a new engineer that had taken over responsibility for the RX-7. The RZ was designated to be the most top end of the line. The book lists many upgraded features.
Such features produced significant value add. You may have to watch out that they have not been swapped out of your car in the past. It has been stated that the RZ ultimately morphed into the Spirit R in its final iteration. If you have one of the very first RZ, that is very significant indeed. You should consider "preserving" your car, rather than heavily modifying it. It was designed to be a supercar to start with. Why mess with that? |
Hi Redbul, would you be so kind and check my car? My "VIN" is FD3S-114841.
BTW, where do you get all those informations? |
Now this thread has me curious, as I'd also like to know what mine is as well, My "vin" is FD3S-204554
I sort of have a hunch that it is probably a Type R, but clarification would be indeed sweet. |

I sort of have a hunch that it is probably a Type R, but clarification would be indeed sweet. Manufacture Date: March 25, 1994. Colour PZ; 2 seater. Database lists Type (Grade) as "Naniwa-V". I have no idea what this means, but it may have been some special model. "Naniwa" is an old name for "Japan". |
Thanks Redbul, I'm wondering if the "Naniwa-V" grade could just be a "dealership built/ordered" specification.
The only thing I know with the car is that it has two oil coolers and with no back seat, so I'm now wondering if the "base used" in this car; based on all the information that I've gathered so far, is pointing to being an R II model. |
Nani desu ka? (What is it)
I searched the data base on each side and found another Naniwa-V several cars down the line.
Can only guess what's up at this time. Maybe these cars were destined for a custom tuner? Called Naniwa? Brian Long's book mentions there was a bunch of switching around of models in the first half of 1994. He mentions the R-II was an Type R with two seats, but no mention of the twin coolers (unless assumed they were standard with the Type R). However several iterations of Bathhurst and RZ and R-S were also introduced about that time. If you have blue tinted glass, that might make it a Bathhurst. Sometimes custom tuners add an additional plaque on the firewall. Perhaps check for that. |
Please check this one: JM0FD103100100006
It's a 1992 Australian market car. |
Only JDM
I suggest you try FDrx7.com. They likely know how to search for Australia market VIN history. It looks like you have a very low VIN car. Could it be, possibly, one of the first 6 imported to Australia?
