NJ high flow cat

currently my 88 turbo2 is not catted. has a full raceing beat exhaust on it. the emission laws in nj are somewhat strict and i was thinking about welding a high flow cat in my downpipe. my question is that can i run a cat while running premix? will it eventually clog it up, or really hurt the performance that much?. im still up in the air. might just weld an empty shell up so it "look" real if any cop were to ever look under it..

Since you haven't had much feedback from the FC owners I'll offer the following experiences with my FD......
I doubt you'll pass emissions without a working Air pump and cat.
Remember rotary exhaust is significantly hotter than it's piston counterparts, so they also tend to be harder on cats. If your looking for a high flow cat, be sure to get a quality one with a proven record with rotarys. I suggest a search in the 2nd gen. section, but at least with the FD the BONEZ has that proven record. I have one on my FD that's over 8 yrs old and still flows very well. It's all stainless, thick flanges and otherwise nicely constructed.
I don't have emissions in my State but many FD owners who do, pass with them. They aren't cheap, but worth it IMO.

Racing Beat sells cat replacement pipes or a pre-silencer which looks just like a cat for the FC, turbo and non-turbo. Go to their website to look around.

My mistake, around my area you don't need emissions on cars 20 years or older.

yeah no airpump and everything is blocked off on my engine, no egr etc.... here in nj all they test for is emissions. they will just put the sniffer in my tailpipe and they have a camera mounted in the floor so they see if you have a cat... now if i buy the cat you have on your fd can it handle premix or will it eventually clog?

Search in the 2nd gen. section under key words like "cats" in titles...or all posts for more hits. See what the 2nd gen. guys are using and works best.
I've always had a working OMP and for the past 2.5 years (~ 15k miles) I've also added pre-mix at about 1/2 oz. per gallon. Last April (I do it once a year or so) I removed my Cat for inspecton and the matrix still looked fine. There's no other indication that it's not tolerating it.

Lets look at it this way.
The stock setup is getting exhaust that has had gas mixed with Regular Oil via the OMP.
now, instead of the OMP you are putting in 2 stroke.
same **** in a different Pile.
The HI Flo will be just fine.

bahahaha dont worry about it dude, both my FC and my FD dont have cats and ive been pulled over in both and not even once have they even mentioned anything about the cats and trust me, i could make someone behind me pass out from the fumes from both

the laws are strict but the cops arent, we even talk to a couple cops from time to time, officially they are not trained to know what to look for when it comes to the catalytic converters

the only time you would ever have to worry is if you act like a douche bag to one, or you hit one of those rare police road block things, and of all the years ive driven ive only ever seen one in passing

as for emissions, just pay someone, they have recently changed the laws again, all they do is idle sniffer, no more dyno or visual checks or anything else

last time my fc went for emissions i was as clean as a 02 honda accord with 250k miles on it

Rotary Performance sells several high flow cats which are guaranteed to work with the rotary.
