Hey everyone im a new owner of a 93 fd3s RX7, I drove it for one summer then when I pulled it out this summer I was driving around with my cousin and after a bit of heavy driving I was driving home and all of a sudden lost all power. I parked the car for about 20 min and it started up again, unfortunatly it was running really off at low rpm, when the turbo kicked in it ran fine but when it runs on motor it seems really rough and have to kinda push the gas a bit more. Anyway thats the first problem, I parked the car after that and a few days later I moved it up the driveway and turned the car off, couple days after that I tried to start it up but it would just crank and when it was about to start it would just pop like a shotgun, I read on the forums and came to the conclusion it is flooded, so today i went out and pulled the egi and cranked and then put the fuse back in and cranked but when its about to start it gets a huge bang out the exhuast. We tried this about 4 or 5 times and i still get the same bang when its about to start. I dont know if i should keep trying a few more times this way or if you guys possibly had a suggestion !

Flooding is when the car won't start due to fuel accumulated in the combustion chamber.

I suggest you check that the MAP sensor hose (in the engine bay, on the firewall right in front of the driver, labeled Boost Sensor) because if that pops loose you can get those symptoms.

On another note, if you're still not making progress I suggest a compression test. Even if checks out ok, you have that in your pocket to gauge the health of the engine.

how about this simple solution

- try switch off the fuel pump
- crank the engine for a while
- turn on the fuel pump

if this help , it means flooding
if not, it must be other problem

 

How much vacuum is it pulling a idle? If it is low check the compression.
