Exclamation Exhaust head gasket?

So I recently bought a rx7 gx and when I bought it the guy told me that the exhaust header or something like that was leaking and would have to be fixed. Lately my car has gotten much louder and I believe that the would be from the seal getting worse or am I completly wrong any input on this would be helpful because i'm not to familiar with rotarys

I suggest you climb under the car and check for holes in your exhaust first. It seems that once a small hole is formed, it gets larger pretty fast. Might be a fairly simple fix. If you cant find any leaks, it could be the exhaust manifold (header) gasket - the one that goes between the manifold and engine block.

is it a stock exhaust? i just replaced my exhaust because the whole thing was rusted out. so it is possible that some parts are bad and forming holes.

It has an aftermarket racingbeat dual exhaust that looks like it's fairly new from what I can see so I guess it must be the exhaust manifold gasket. Does anyone know how much this is going to cost to get fixed? Or if it's easy enough to do it yourself where I would be able to fnd step by step instructions?

well not to sound mean but if your a complete idiot when it comes to using tools might as well shut up and take it to the shop. if not its as easy as takin offf the exhaust mani and pullin whats legt of the old on off then replace it and bolt it back together. couple hours max. easy fix tho

oh well its not much to taking off an exhaust manifold. i think the only think you may run into problem wise is just taking it off to get to the gasket. its nothing to major. kinda self explanitory. just go at it. you cfant really mess it up that bad

Ok well I guess I'll try that. Will it matter that I don't have a car jack? Any thing else I should know before trying this myself?

that might make things hard to do. since i dont think you can reach the manifold bolts with the car setting on the ground. but im not sure.. you may be bale to get away with that.

I recommend buying or renting a car jack because its almost impossible to squeeze under the car and actually work under there without it being raised

A 1 or 2 day soak of penetrating oil may not be a bad idea. Those exhaust studs are extremely difficult to get out of you break one off removing the nuts which are often very frozen. If you're not familiar with car work, you may not want to start with this job. It's simple IF there are no complications.
