need some opinions on purchase

I have the oppurtunity to buy a 1987 rx7 ( turbo ) for $3500. It has a blown motor and has been sitting for about a year and a half. Included in the cost will be a new engine ( remanufactured still in the crate ) put in. The car has 90,000 miles on it and the body and interior is in decent condition. it will need a fresh pair of tires boosting the cost. i will be the third owner and know the person doing the work. I see it to be a fair deal however convincing my parents is another story. It still is a 22 year old car and even with a new engine are there many more things that could go? have not ready much about transmission issues.. opinions would be greatly appreciated!

also..it comes with a bov, turbo timer, ( spare turbo if i need it), exhuast

As you suspect, as with any 20 year old car, there can be issues. These boil down to maintenance and are basically standard for any car. Things like suspension bushings, bearings, fuel/brake lines, etc. will all have to be checked. In this regard, the RX-7 is exactly like any other car.

See the 2nd gen FAQ for How To Buy guides.
