welcome to the board.

you'll have to be more specific. which "o-rings" did you have to replace? also, was that ll you replaced?

generally speaking, if you did not replace bearings, side seals and/or apex seals, you shouldn't need to go through a full break-in procedure. let us know exactly what you did.

Did you not replace any of the hard seals while the engine was apart?

Ok, which parts were replaced? Or are you starting thatbyou need to replace the coolant seals in the engine?? When you say that you replaced the water seals in the engine, this implies that you tore the engine down. If you have not replaced the coolant seals yet, know that the engine will need to be fully disassembled in order to do so. This implies replacing much more than just coolant seals. The coolant seals require no break in but the hard seals on the rotors do. You will want to replace all of the apex seals, seal springs, side seals, oil control rings etc when you tear the engine down.

Just to clarify, OP isn't just talking about the two o-rings on the intake manifold?

nope im talking about the water seals inside the engine.
i tore it apart today and i think i only need a few side seal springs and nothing else to put it together.

i found that my turbo manifold is quite cracked tho. and theres a pipe inside thats also pretty melted. should i try getting a new one?

If you took the engine apart, why not put in all new seals and have the irons lapped? This way you'll have a fresh engine. Its apart, now is the time.

i decided im gonna do a full rebuild because the apex seals are under the minimal threshhold.
I could get the iron lapped but they would need to be nitrated and i dont know anyone in germany who offers that.

Correct me if I’m wrong, but gas nitriding is not a rotary engine specific task. It is an industry standard practice of case hardening to reduce wear from scratches. I’ve used it for work to make soft stainless materials act like hard stainless in terms of surface wear.

When I was first looking into the process for work, I found about 5 places within 1 hour from the office which perform this task.

And just fyi, lapping isn’t necessary if you’re still within spec. Just measure it and decide if the extra cost is worth it.

Sources I used for internal seals on my s5 t2 rebuild:
