Besides having lots of beer and muchies available .......

pull off every bolt-on thing you can find. But, if this is your first time, be totally **** about writing down what went where, segregate the nuts and bolts per part in labeled containers (say dixi cups with masking tape for writing labels), and tag and note location each connector and hose matches to with masking tape tags.

It is actually all pretty logical to figure out what goes where otherwise. But do both you and your friend a favor and go tag crazy. And be totally careful if your working near ANY plastic parts. The heat under the hood makes plastic brittle and easy to break. I also suggest you have a role of silicon tubing available for replacing old hardened rubber hoses.

If your car is 2nd Gen is 1988 or earlier, do yourself a favor and go to your local dealer and buy a NEW Pulsation Damper. Easy to replace when its all apart and this critter is a cronic cause of engine fires. I know, I had that happen only 6 months after I had gone through all this work and replaced my own engine.

If you can get it down to where all your friend has to do is upbolt the engine from the Tranny and lift out, you've done everything he could hope you could do. Again, doing all this only HELPS if its easy to determine what goes where when your start to reinstall all that stuff.

Have fun. :-)
