VA Bought my first rx7 (FC3S)- Intake question

Hey guys, I recently purchased a 1987 FC3S NA, it is my first rotary car. I was wondering what intake system besides a drop in filter would make any considerable hp gains. I'm looking for something like a ram air intake made from aluminum or SS, something that looks clean. If someone knows who makes something like this and where can i get one?

The only "intake" that will give a increase u will notice is a turbo... Other than that just use a k&n drop in filter and call it a day. Any cone filter type intakes will actually draw in hotter air thus causing u to lose power, unless u make urself an intake box at which at that point u should've kept the stock box.

so basically i got the best to put other than a turbo? is there anything that can confirm this like dyno sheet or has anyone tried a different intake and felt a loss in power?

The stock air box(with the duct work intact) draws air from outside the Engine bay anyhow,so really a K&N is the better alternative.
As for Dyno?..Most FC guys paid about as much for their car compared to a Dyno session,so I think you may have trouble finding Good Data on that!
The most you will get out of a "modified" N/A FC on a real good day and an Empty Wallet is about 200hp.
after that it is more Budget wise to go with a Turbo Engine...or ....(you know.)

want stock ports power gain? racing beat exhaust system. Anyway like they said, you actually suffer power lost from switching it to aftermarket if your engine is in stock form

As mentioned you are probably only going to get good HP gains from a good airbox etc if you have intake bigger ports (and exhaust ports) that are going to with stand the additional air that is entering the engine.

You can always make custom air ducts that make the air go from the front of the car into the engine bay. Ive seen a few FC's with duct work like this for road racing and hillclimb

Thanks for the advice everyone, i will look into porting options then, and a little custom intake ducting.
