Boost Limitation Switch FD?

From what I understand this lowers your boost (psi) right?
Is this some kind of mod or something? I want to lower the stock boost and heard somewhere that you can lower it to about 7 psi but thats about it. Can you also lower the stock boost with a manual/electronic boost controller? Reason being that the car is a daily driven car. Will this have any negative effects on reliablility?

Well it has been a LONG time sence i have had twins in my car.

The twins work on a 10-8-10 pattern, there is a restrictor pill in one of the lines that lets the Primary wastegate (Spring 6psi) go to 10psi, then when it is switching it goes to about 8psi then back to 10psi.

If you remove the pill then the primary turbo will only go to 6ish, I dont know what the transition psi is, but if the primary turbo doesnt get to this psi then the secondary turbo will never come online, or if it does get to this psi then it may fall out of this pressure range while the secondary turbo is coming online, then the system will go back to the primary only. This will cause the turbos to keep switching back and forth and never have both online.

So unless you go Non-Seq (Running both all the time) you cant lower it without side effects.

Running at 7-8psi is about as reliable as you'll get on an FD, why do you need to go lower?

To go any lower you'd need to change the wastegate spring.

I wish to run it at 7 psi, not lower.
So, I still don't understand it clearly... I have to make it non-seq to make it have no side effects? Are you sure on this? Is there any other ways to make it have 7-8psi?

Yes. Install an electronic boost controller (something like a Greddy Profec), then just leave it turned off. This will run the car off the wastegate spring only which will yield about 7 PSI.

You do not have to make it nonsequential.

One very easy way to make it stop at 8psi is to unplug your wastegate and precontrol solenoids.

Thanks for the 2 suggestions on lower the boost, but which one is umm better? I guess unplugging the wastegate and precontrol solenoids is pretty much free and an electronic one costs like at least around $399, and they pretty much do the same thing, plus I don't plan on increasing boost anytime soon so I guess I'll just unplug the wastegate and solenoids. Could you kindly tell me how to go about doing this? Thanks a lot!!

Don't unplug the electrical connections to those two solenoids if you are on the stock ECU. That will throw the car into limp mode. Check to see if the lines have the boost pills in them:

If you do have the boost pills, you can remove them (i.e. just run a new vacuum line without the pills). That will basically give you the wastegate spring only. If you don't have the pills, then that means the restriction is in the orifice of the nozzles.

I've actually run without the solenoids plugged in and it worked as I described. It might have thrown a ghost code but I didn't get limp mode.

Either way will work.
