exhaust choice

i am gettin my 88 rx7 soon, already paid for my mechanic is just tuning a couple things here and there, but i need to kno what exhaust system would be the best to get to achieve a very deep deep grumble?

mine is very deep it is the racing beat dual. i got a t2 swap now but its still pretty deep

Racing Beat is the majority choice. I use Racing Beat on two of mine.

Racing beat true dual is what you are after, but it is also a high price tag. If you are looking for 'just loud' you can get a corksport exhaust.

Also look for used systems on the parts for sale section of the forums.

I made my own exhaust and put two torque bends in it and it sounds just like a racingbeat exhaust....i put it side by side. But racingbeat is the throaty-est exhaust out there,...

Thumbs up Cork Sport

I have an 88 GTU with a single cork sport that comes out the driver side it shaves 30lbs. and sounds good, not to mention the price is real right.

It all depends on how loud you want it. The corksport is definately the loudest. Racing beat is the quietest. Apexi n1 single is really deep, it's loud, but in a smooth way. Apexi dual n1s are a higher octave than the n1 single, but yields better performance, even better than the Racing beat rev II system.

I know this because of experience. In the end I stuck with the racing beat because it wasn't loud, just aggresive.

The wieght difference only really matters if you're going to be racing. It really depends on your taste. I loved my single exhaust, but because I've got a dual exhaust cutout in the back, I went dual.

I also daily drive my FC and I got tired of the exhaust drone.... I guess that means I'm growing up huh...

Has anyone ever tried a hybrid system like taking a front section from one brand and the Y-pipe back from another? Is there any benefit to something like this? Just curious. Thanks.

I agree with fabrerio, it really depends on person preferance. I've had headers, a bonez hi flo, and a bonez straight pipe. I've also had 4 different catbacks that I've tried with each pipe.

For me, the best combination was the bonez straight pipe with apexi single n1. It was at the perfect tone and had the right kind of performance for my application.

yea just got my car and its straight pipe dual racing beat exhaust... mad intimidating but raspy out high rpm

I would try cutting a section of the straight pipe out and welding in a resonator, it will help to smooth the pulses from the engine. Might cure that raspy noise you speak of as well.

I have the Bonez DP/ High Flow setup with the Racing Beat Y-Pipe and stock mufflers.

It sounds decent, though I need to get some Racing Beat mufflers to complete it. The Y-pipe alone made such difference in sound when I replaced it.

i love the way bonez hi flo cat + RB cat-back sounds. but i think im gonna change it to apexi N1 dual just to c the sound or borrow it off my friend to try

I love the loud, deep tone exhaust. I would go Racing Beat for sure.

I love the Blitz Nur Spec tbh, its unique and i love it. Check it out if you want different.

tho my exhaust is very loud, i love makin a presence kuz its the one of the loudest in the lot lol.. racing beat all the way.. but i mite put a resonater tho

I use a corksport resonator/presilencer with my RB catback. At idle, it is almost silent, but it's got a satisfying deep rumble under load. It sounds different now on a turbo motor, but it screamed up to redline on my NA motor. Loud, but not too loud. Don't overlook the effect a resonator can have on the overall tone / db.
