'91 Conv., What sensor is this?

Helping friend dry out his '91 Convertible caught in a Ga thunderstorm. After pulling seats, trim, carpet, pads, etc. came acros a two wire sensor located under passenger seat facing down into floor that looks to be a pick up of some sort. Has two wires. black and black w/yellow marker. Does appear to be factory plug into harness. Any clue as to what's its function?

electric seats.. maybe if its not hooked up his may have not come with that option.. and its there just so they didnt have to make 40 different harnesses.

There were no electric seats in FCs. It is likely the plug for the exhaust overheat sensor, which is located on the floor under the seat. You can check the wire colors in the FSM wiring diagrams if you need to know for sure.

Is there a fan under there?

Is is the exhaust overheat sensor. Honestly, it serves no purpose. If that sensor is tripped, the car is already on fire. But there is an actual "Exhaust Overheat" light in the idiot cluster.

Why would there be a fan under there? To cool off the exhaust? I hope it's a big fan.

It's just a sensor that completes/breaks a circuit depending on resistance change (due to heat).

Every time I stop after a lot of driving there is a noise coming from under the car in the rear that could only be described as a fan. I've only had the car for less than a week and haven't had the chance to get under there and see what it is. It seemed like a dumb place for a fan to me too. I'm just clueless for the time being.

You might be hearing the power antenna.

I wasn't aware I had a power antenna. Also, it goes on for maybe 5 minutes. I'll get under it this week and figure out what's going on.
