85 First gen rx7 GS oil pressure gauge issues

Hey everyone. Ran into a problem with my first gen. Seems that the factory oil pressure gauge went out so i went out and bought an aftermarket gauge. The gauge is stuck between 45-50 psi even after the car is shut off. I would like to assume that the gauge is just faulty but would also like to know if my oil pressure sender is just bad.

I'm also not sure how well an aftermarket gauge will work with an original oil pressure sender. I would have kept the original gauge and used the test procedure above to determine the failure point.
