Hi All,

My 83 is trying to give me a heart attack!
Idles for few minutes then dies and won’t restart for a while.

Done the following to try and narrow it down the following;

- fouling of plugs? bad omp?
- bad temp sensor (doesn’t work on cluster)?
- timing?
- other??

new coils, new distributor cap, new plugs and wires (checked they all had good spark and it runs for 3-10 minutes), rebuilt carb, good compression, coolant doesn’t leak/maintains pressure, new fuel pump and filters, new tank, new premixed fuel, some new vacuum hoses (rats nest still in place)

On cluster, tach and oil pressure gauges work intermittently, eng temp doesn’t work, fuel and speedometer do work.

was it running well before the carb got rebuilt?

you may also want to check on your trailing igniter (the tach signal), and check the connection at the temp sensor.

 

Either an ignitor getting hot and losing spark and fuel delivery issue.
