Hi, i recently bought a Mazda rx8 for a project and im struggling to get it started. I know for a fact i probably need a rebuild but it will not crank anymore. Im in the Corpus Christi area so if anyone knows about what’s going on I’d appreciate it.

okay, so a few things ...

if you know for a fact that it probably needs a rebuild, then why not run a compression test and remove doubt either way?

have you run through the basics on the car? is fuel getting to the injectors? is there spark at the plugs? once again, compression?

was the car sold complete or are there missing parts?

you mentioned that it's not cranking now, is that because the battery has run down, or is the engine physically not turning any more?
