IA New Project a 85 rx7 GS

i just recently traded my 83 rx7 for a 85 and ive been working on it recently and the guy told me it needed a new clutch and fuel pump. so i was messing with the fuel pump and rewired it and it works now and put a new clutch master cylinder in and it all works now but the major problem is when i turn it on it ll run (choke on) and when the choke goes in the car dies. it turns back on right away but it wont idle. I was looking at the engine and the dizzy cap and wires look new but it has motor craft plugs? so i don't really know what it could be? plugs maybe? its not a stock fuel pump its a carter. sorry for the long post.

probably a vacuum leak. I don't trust the plugs you have, but that's not your issue.

I see. Well I ordered new plugs and they will be here maybe 3 days but where should I start looking for vaccumm leaks? rats nest? And today it was driving fine and then it keeps dying like a clogged fuel filter but I just replaced that. Yea sorry I have little experience with rotarys

well since it won't idle, the carb cleaner method of checking is probably not going to work. so you should probably just go through and check any and all vacuum lines/hoses. it's one of the few things that you can go ham-fisted and replace everything because they're all probably brittle and tired.

find the leak before you touch the carburetor. changing a part of system that has an issue before you solve the issue is opening the door to many headaches and in some cases ... yes ... alcoholism.

Haha yeah true. So I might just change all the vac. Lines anyway they're all old and then if that won't fix it then I'll look more into it

I'm not sure what that is, but, when the car is running, does it draw any air though the opening? If you can put your finger over it to test.

No but I looked it up and I think its a carburetor sensor solenoid lol idk and my shutter valve is bad when I put my finger on the opening that's not supposed to suck air it raises the idle so I've been told to block it off but I'm nit sure if I should.. oh and it makes the goose noise
