82 RX7 carburetor Problem

OK My name is Art and I live in Rochester MI. I am the original owner of a 1097 RX-7 GSL. I have had a mechanic friend of mind do some work on my car. He replaces the carburetor along with installing new floats. Unfortunately after the repair the car will not hold an idle. Any ideas what could be the problem. Any advice is to solve this problem extreamly appreciated

Was the replacement a new carb, or just one off of a junkyard car?

After the carb has been disassembled and cleaned it will need to be adjusted.

Carb adjustment procedures are in the FSM.

Did it idle before the carb was replaced?
Why was the carb replaced?
And to take a SWAG (scientific wild-***-guess), if the car was not idling before the replacement, and if the carb was not flooding before replacement, the possibility exists that the intake manifold gasket is leaking.

Check out Sterling Metal Works for lots and lots of great carb info. "Tuning the Nikki" has a section on setting the idle mixture and speed.

MI Same problem here in Michigan

I also have a 1982 RX-7 with carb problems. I had the car in to Datsun Dr. in Waterford they rebuilt that carb but can get it to run right.

Have you found any new carb that is available???

I live just south of Flint in Holly area.

Thanks

Paul

Send a PM to Hecubus84. He's a Flint boy and knows his stuff. He might be willing to give you a hand...
