I'm heading down to hang out with Ernie on Sunday. So I will be there but I will likley be in my jeep. I thought about taking my fd and sticking a for sale sign on it. I thought it would be a good place for it but i don't feel like washing it and waxing etc. lol
Have you guys ever been down to seabreeze? They got killer crabs and a tiki bar.
Regarding a rebuild in Southern Maryland, I personally wouldn't trust anyone down here but I'm a little particular because I have been around long enough to know better that trying to save a buck. No one down here specializes in them either. You might find someone who has done one or two or who is willing to give it a try but that's not my cup of tea. Ray Wilson is the only guy to ever turn a wrench on my car aside from me. No offence to Josh I understand his limited funds and situation. Maybe Josh's guy is capable. I'd ask him who it is and check it out I suppose.

I'm sorry. His name gets mentioned so often I didn't want to sounds like a broken record.

Ray is PFsupercars in Fredrick Md.

Cool. I know I've seen PFsupercars mentioned quite a bit in this thread. If he's well trusted then that's probably where I'd take mine.

I don't think he really works on 2nd Gen's, but a rotary rebuild is a rotary rebuild. Expect to pay premium for his time, but you are getting premium work for your money.

Good luck.

Might be moving back to the DC/VA area, should know in a few weeks. New job oppurtunity.

I went the other route with my blown engine. I threw the old one in the back of the SUV, drove over to malloy mazda, picked up a remanufactured engine and was back home in 2 hours. Ray Crowe is the man to talk to there. He's the RX-7 parts god.

Malloy Mazda is in Woodbridge, VA., just a hop across the Potomac.
The engine for my FD was 2500 which was 1000 less than any other place I could find. I don't know whether they have 2nd gen engines, but it would def be worth a phone call. 1-866-484-3096 ask for Ray Crowe in the Mazda Parts Dept.

I add MMO and octane boost to every tank just for safety's sake.
Unless I planned on making more power than the omp can support (anybody know how much that is?), I'd keep it.

The omp is pretty unreliable for good oiling in my opinion. The jets clog easily and I just don't trust it. I have been premixing for a long time. I would recommend it Josh.

We don't need no stinking oil metering pump! Remember to add 4oz.of oil BEFORE you fill up the tank. I use amsoil 2 cycle from Napa in mechanicsville

Is that with the OMP still hooked up. Would premixing with the OMP still in place cause issues?

You can premix with the OMP still running. I used to before I removed it all together.

I was in the Outer Banks all last week. The weather was perfect and there were gorgeous women in bikinis everywhere. It sucked to come back.

Let me know if you need help this weekend Josh.

No problem. Send me directions to your house and tell me what time to be there.
As far as I know I don't have anything else going on this weekend.
