I don't think I have met you before. I'd like to see your car sometime. I assume I'll get my chance at the MD BBQ.

Jon, I left you a message. Hit me up when you get a chance.

Yup, i'll be at the BBQ. The SO has been informed that I will be going with or without her or my sanity.

So basically i'm in for a deep pile! I guess i knew when i bought the car it was going to be a lot of work, but not this much!

I want to have it on the road so i can take it to the Maryland BBQ June 7, but not likely, as i think i'm getting ready to start the tear down process on the entire engine. Its not looking good fellas, but i'm in it for the long haul, so i'll be ok.

So, i ordered the Gotham short shifter and went to install it. Pulled the center console apart and there is a blue anodized plate with B&M stamped on it.

Crap.

So i had a short shifter the whole time. Anyone want to buy or trade for a brand new Gotham short throw?

It makes me wonder though; how long is the stock throw? (I'm a poet and didn't know-it)

Ha Ha. That's pretty funny. The stock shifter has pretty long throws. I just put in the B&M a couple of months ago. Big difference. I thought my days of hitting 5th instead of third were over, but damn if I didn't do it again last week.

How do you know it needs to be torn down?
Did you do a compression test?

Fair enough, i'd take my price ($99) for it. I literally got it yesterday.

Yeah, i'm tired of second to fifth or second to (sound of grinding) making me look like a monkey. I remember the spoon short shifter on my friends honda felt a lot better. Does a weighted **** make that much difference?

I guess i'll try a torque brace (since i can see that i don't have one!), trans brace if that doesn't work.

Sort of kinda not really.
We, myself and a mechanic were working on it this past weekend and were doing somethings, checked the sparkplugs and found that one of them was crossthreaded. But we don't know much about rotaries so we are learning!

I do have a pretty basic question tho, the trailing spark plugs aren't doing anything at low rpm's. We figured that it was because they didn't kick in until higher rpm's...is this true, or is there a problem?

Well with cross threaded spark plug holes the housings are junked most likely. At the very least you will have to rebuild the engine anyway I would think.

yeah the other night i think i got a bad tank of gas bc i was running really low when i filled up. so I went to the local shell station and filled up... about two miles down the road someone pulled off in front of me so I had a clear strait away so I dropped it in second at about 35 mph and 3800 rpm and as soon as I gave it gas ----BOOM--- lol it wasnt that loud but it popped... drove like crap... and eventualy died when i tried to let it idle.

yesterday i pulled the plugs and the front rotor has great compression but the rear has no compression on any side. Im gonna have my gas tested but besides that im not sure of the culprit... My commander showed no knock and a max of .9 bar..... I wonder if the stock map sensor could be a little off???

Nothing great as I was practicing launching (and I need more practice) and getting used to the tranny. The one time I went through the gears (running 28lbs of boost, my low setting!) I ran a 11.00 @ 136mph with a 2.2 60' lol....I almost stalled the car out of the hole and it took about 5years to get back on boost. Like I said I'll get the 60' down and when I do, the 9 sec. timeslips will come with it. Remember Im tuned to 36psi so there a **** load left in it.
