Why are you porting the wastegate anyway? Are you over boosting now?

Iv'e hit fuel cut twice in 4th gear, and i really wanna make sur the sequentials are good for my next tune with a mid pipe. both times the fuel cut hit at .95 bar when i was tuned for .86 bar. I'm not really worried about now but when i put the mid pipe on i don't wanna pop the motor.

The leak is along the fuel rail some where, but I dont know how to find it without running the car. Again I'd like to mention my life sucks, but it could have been worse.

It's to be expected with an aging car. Likely suspect would be the fuel pulsation damper or a fuel line connection near it. The injectors can leak as well but I would look at the lines and fpr first. Run the forum search tool on that and "fuel leak" in the 3rd gen forum if you want to do some research before diving in.

I would get a boost controller. Your fuel cut is not going to be coming from an undersized wastegate. Your either getting engine knock or something else is going on. In other words porting your wastegate is not going to fix your fuel cut problem.

Dave, I figured it was a leaking injector first, but would've figured either the fpr, or a loose fuel rail second. I am not a complete bonehead.

And my girlfriend is gonna help me pull the motor this afternoon. Girlfriend wants to get dirty helping me pull a motor, she likes drag racing, she loves old muscle cars, but knows **** about rx-7's. Time for a day hanging out with rx-7 freaks is on the horizon.

Who do you think your kidding? I have yet to see you diagnois and fix one problem on any car, let alone a FD. Now you know how to fix a fuel leak? LOL Come on man. Lay down the crack pipe. ! Now if someone wants to buy broken up second gens and strip them down to useless shells then you are definitely the authority. I will make sure to send those interested your way

What are you doing later anyway? I'm home alone. Want to drink a beer or two?

When I bought the car and put in a reman, I kept the original injectors (new O-rings). Should I replace them all now? They have 73k miles on them. Should I upgrade to larger ones (with new fuel pump) even though I still have the stock engine management system?

Where can I get stainless steel oil metering lines?

You can't upgrade injector size w/o an aftermarket ECU. Just do a fuel pump, that's good enough. I wouldn't bother getting new injectors either just send em out to be cleaned...

Cool, I can do that. The wiring harness is what's freaking me out. Aren't they like 1000 bucks?

I think the harness is about $700. I would buy a used one though. New is pointless.

Thanks guys. The OMP is fine, but thanks for the offer. Only the area under the uim by the injectors got crispy. The wiring to the solenoids and the omp lines look like the only casualties. I was lucky as hell that there was a guy driving a St. Mary's county public transportation bus right there with a chemical fire extinguisher. I emptied that sucker.
I will be buying one of those before I drive it again. The look on my face when I opened that hood and saw flames must have been priceless : ) I'm ordering the OMP lines tonight. I'll call around tomorrow and look for a used wiring harness.

Contact Fritz Flynn here on the forum. He might very well have a harness.

Thanks. I'll look him up. I'm thinking I should just go ahead and replace the fuel pressure regulator. Should I just stick with the stock one or put an aftermarket one on? I'm going to replace all the O-rings in the injectors. I think the leak was near the front of the fuel rail.
The vacuum line that goes to the front oil metering injector was swollen at the bottom from exposure to gas. It also smelled strongly of gas. I think it may have been the gas line that runs from the front of the rail to the primary injectors.

Thanks dave. I'm actualy picking one up today. I know when I hit the fuel cut I automaticly checked my knock and it never got higher than about 40. so it couldn't have been a knock issue. Im pretty sure the fuel cut resulted becauce of the overboost. And also like I said before, im not so worried about now but rather when I get a mid pipe I dont want to be afraid to gun it and get boost creep. .... but then again Ray said it would be fine and he would be able to tune for that......

Not that I could go anyway, but I'll be in Delaware until Sunday. I think all my parts will be here by Friday. I'm hoping to start putting things back together when I get back. Since the car is DOWN I decided to go ahead and fix my oil leak. One of the two o-rings had fallen out just before I put the pedastal on. It was a squished black blob of rubber between the two surfaces.
Since I have everything apart should I put an FC thermoswitch in to make the fans kick on earlier?
