zach, i got your pm, sorry i didnt send you back, but can i get a form, i dont think i got one before.
So now you have no excuse not to come to the autoX events.
Forms on the way.
Talk to Rob about how to get there. I think we could use the help getting the engine in.
Joe, where did you find the foglight bulbs?!? Every parts shop around here has the wrong part # in their computer, and there's nothing on the shelf that will fit.
Almost everyone's profiles are up. I'm just gonna have to get online and find pictures since no one sent them in for the personal profiles. I already know what I'm gonna use for Joe.

Zach, my email address is rgordon1979@HOTMAIL.com!

Do you want to go to Gloucester Friday afternoon? This is assuming I get my clutch this week. I don't think it will be a problem since it is coming from Ohio. I will call tomorrow and see for sure when they are going to ship it.

That pic works for me...

Actually, plain H3 bulbs will fit into the housings perfectly, it's just the connection that you have to worry about. You see (well, I guess you don't...), the 3-4 dollar H3 bulbs are supposed to be grounded by the frame for the bulb. Only hitch is, our foglamp housings are not grounded by nature. So with a little engineering, I created a wire with a spade on one end, and attatched the other end to the chassis of the bulb, then put it all back in and it worked. Only problem I encountered was I blew a fuse which is strange seeing the the wattage for the bulb is correct, I think it was an issue moreso with where I grounded it to. SO, I am going to go back and remove the whole thing again and solder a ground onto the bulb chassis and see if that works. If it doesn't I may have to bring in a ground from outside of the factory wiring, but that really wouldn't be too much of a hassle.

But 4 dollars is MUCH CHEAPER than the 20-25 from the dealer...

Hello, I just found this thread. Since I don't live far from Richmond, I thought I'd make my presence known. Anyway, my name is Jay and I own a nice '88 vert(I guess you would figure that by my screen name) I've been looking for a group of rotorites to hand out with, and I spend some time in Richmond. I hope to meet you all soon.

You'll have to come up for the next event, probably a dyno run in February when Robs TII is finished and David gets that SC installed.

Speaking of events, we should go to a track day at VIR this summer. I know DavidR will be up for this.

VIR is a nice track. I hope to get my problems fixed by then. Mazda club of Washington also holds two events every year. Something to think about.

...oh yeah, one other thing. Has anyone here ever installed a RB Header/Presilencer setup? I've got a friend that will help me, but just wondering if there are any pitfalls I should look out for. I bought the setup off of T2goesFast, but he's too busy finishing up Silver3gen's bridgeport job to help me get them on right now.

I have done it once on my car. There is nothing that I ran into that gave me a lot of trouble. Just be sure to soak your bolts in liquid wrench/Kroil..etc. I have heard of people snapping the studs on the engine. That would not be fun.

Here's the news on the fog lights, it turns out during reassembly of the lamp housing, that the 12v wire came loose and grounded out on the chassis causing a short. Cleaned up the wiring mess yesterday and it's been working great since!!! I still have to do the pass side bulb whenever that burns out, so if I have some method of taking pictures, a write up would be a breeze.

On a side note, I'd like to personally hang all the son of a bi@#%es that say a 6.5" speaker is for the rear tower. I pulled out what looked like a 4" speaker that was surrounded by a metal plate bringing the diameter up to 8-8.5". All attempts at cutting/filing/drilling the plate was a joke given the tools I had to select from. So, I took some extra of a thick plastic sheet I had and traced out some replacements that I can easily shape. I got it down to 2 matching circles, now I just have to cut out the inner hole for the 6.5" speaker, drill the bolt holes, and wire it up.

I was cursing a lot yesterday with the damned speakers...

5 Stars BABY!!! What exactly does that mean?

Mazda just called me, they have everything finally. I am going to the garage tonight. I will probably be there around 6-7. Zach, do you think you will make it?

Thread is rated for information content. In the Gen specific forums, that would make it applicable for archive .

I found out that crutchfield sells adapters to allow for 6.5" speakers at a cost of 15.99 after shipping and before sales tax. However they are free if you buy the speakers from them, so if anyone else needs to replace the rear speakers in a coupe FC, I'd suggest buying the speakers there and getting the adapters premade for free.

Just my 2¢.

Good call. This is, of course, one of those "inexpensive" mods that requires much more to make it right, such as 10" wheels and tires for $3,000, all the body work, and a $1000 paint job.

I like that 6.5" adaptor from Crutchfield. I can't even afford a set of rear speakers right now anyway.

Not much going on Sunday. I'll probably be doing homework since we'll be in Gloucester Fri & Sat putting the engine in Robs beast.
