Stop the part out!

well the FC overheated again this morning, so as a special offer to you guys $1500 takes every last bit of RX-7 stuff I've got
otherwise in July I guess I'll start ripping the car apart and do a big part out, which I'd really hate to do;
the body is in very good shape, the interior is in perfect shape, all the electricals work

If I had the time, money, and a garage I'd do an engine swap of some sort or another, but I don't so I can't

avert your eyes saavedro - the car would be a really good candidate for a LS-1 swap in my opinion

don't do what?
not like I'm swapping anything into it
might be cheaper to just buy the car ($1K), especially if I start the parting out process
go back a page and look at all that stuff that's on the car AND the extra stuff I'll let go with it

I may, depending on my mood and if the FC will restart after this mornings fun.
I've been in a stabby mood all day.

Pierce, have you ridden in Robin's FD? That thing feels like a friggen rocket ship. I loved his FC and I love his FD, and I really do plan on doing an LS1 FC in the future. Not to an FD though.

I'm also planning on putting a body kit on the FD =D

FEED ftw.

VA Just my opinion.......

First off, I want to say that I have nothing against anyone who put a v8 into their rx......And as far as bang for buck, it is the ideal choice.
The reason why I dont care for it is because the rotary engine is the reason I fell in love with rx's in the first place. Regardless of the pro's/con's of the engine, i like the individuality of the vehicle because of the rotary engine. Sure, I have 2 ford v8's in a shed(351W and a 460) and have been itching to throw the small block(351) in my n/a......But if I do that, in my mind it will lose its individuality....And also my interest......
Some people only buy certain vehicles because they are fast, or they look a certain way....Im not interested in speed as much as I used to, but the whole car in general. The rx-7, in my opinion is a great car for a genuine enthusiast(not saying that people who swap v8's in their rx's are not genuine enthusiasts)....
Bottom line.....rgordon, I like your car because you took a great vehicle and made it faster...........Even though I wouldnt have taken that route......Looks good, too!!!!

that 351W motor needs to go into a Factory 5 car, preferrably their Daytona Coupe

If I ever pick up an FC, if it's not a T2, the first thing I'm doing is an LS1 swap =D

I believe there would be actual weight balancing (F/R) issues, the LS-X is an aluminum block and weighs about 40 pounds more than a TII engine
351W is an Iron block motor
plus the LS-X swap has so much stuff already made for it already

Fair enough!! I agree with a lot of your argument. The rotary engine is what started my disease with the RX7 many years ago.

I will be the first to say if I ever win the lottery or get a significant bump in my salary I will have a FD with a rotary in addition to my LS2 7. The LS conversion is everything I want right now though, maintain the 50/50 weight balance, 400+HP, 28mpg, and reliable as hell!

Wow, who can argue with those results???? My way of seeing things is slightly changing......NO!!!! I WONT COME OVER TO THE DARK SIDE!!!!! LOL!!!! But you do make a good and very solid point.......With those results I see why people do v8 swaps....My argument just got crushed....

personally I think the the materials to build a rotary properly just really have not been developed yet
they just can't be run hard or hot enough to reach what should be their peek efficiencies

my favorite feature of the car is the distinct lack of plastic in it
unlike the FC where if you take anything apart you're treated to a shower of little plastic bits
conversly I will say the Miata is quite the solid little beast
