Thumbs up The OFFICIAL Steve Kan Tuning Session Thread - In Northern VA!!!

***Official***

Steve Kan Tuning Session on Saturday, April 28th, 2007 in Northern VA!!!

After a long long wait, it's official. Steve still has us marked down for Saturday, April 28, 2007, so lets get some deposits and make it concrete. Tuning will begin at approx. 9:30 - 10 AM and run until everyone’s car has been tuned. Steve will be tuning at:

B&T Motorsports
7215 Telegraph Square Drive-E
Lorton, VA 22079
http://www.bandtmotorsports.com/
703-339-8663

Tuning will be utilizing a Dynapack. Here’s more info on it:

The Dynapack 3000 is clearly one of the most advanced chassis dyno's today. It eliminates the tire to roller interface that you have with a conventional roller dyno. The drive wheels are removed and adapters are mounted directly to the hubs. There are no straps and no tire slippage to worry about. Constant or variable speed features allow us to measure horsepower, torque, air/fuel ratios and boost in precise increments. The dynapack allows us to make the vehicle accelerate quickly, slow or anywhere in between.

An Advantage over a DynoJet is…

Safety: You don't have to worry about straps breaking, your car coming off those platforms or messing up those beautiful suspension parts that you just installed, trying to strap your car down.

NOTE: Since the Dynapack involves adapters mounting directly to the hubs, MAKE SURE TO BRING YOUR WHEEL LOCKS so we can remove your wheels!!!

So here are the numbers everyone wants to know.

Steve Kan Tune Session Pricing:

- $350: Stock turbo up to 12psi of boost (pump gas only); 1 map
- $400: Aftermarket turbo up to 16psi of boost (pump gas only); 1 map
- $450: Aftermarket turbo from 16psi - 25psi of boost (race gas and/or auxiliary injection only); 1 map
- $600: Aftermarket turbo up to 25psi of boost (pump gas and race gas tune); 2 maps

By doing so, it'll allow Steve to gauge time allocation to the consumer instead of rushing on those that needed more attention in the map.

Estimated time frames allocated for each type of tuning:

- Stock turbo: 45 min – 1.5 hrs
- Aftermarket turbo (pump gas): 1 hr – 2.5 hrs
- Aftermarket turbo (race gas and/or auxiliary injection): 2 – 4 hrs
- Aftermarket turbo (2 maps): 3 – 6 hrs

A $207 Deposit is REQUIRED to guarantee your spot.

The corresponding balance is required IN FULL in CASH upon arrival before ANY tuning or work can be performed on the vehicle.

Paypal: The944@aol.com

MAKE SURE YOU INCLUDE “DYNO DAY DEPOSIT” in the Subject line, and your FULL REAL NAME in the Comments box!!!

B&T Motorsports Dyno pricing: Approx $125 - $175 FLAT FEE, depending on how many cars we get, and how long we need to use the dyno. This figure will be finalized once the first 5 deposits are received. Any vehicles joining the tuning session after that point will subject to an $85 surcharge for the additional dyno time.

While dyno tuning is not required, it is STRONGLY recommended. Compared to street tuning, dyno tuning offers safety, ease of diagnostics and you get to see what kind of numbers your car is actually making! Moreover, we will NOT be responsible for any mishaps or incidents with the Fairfax County or VA State Police, which are not very tolerant in this area to say the least. So again, dyno tuning is STRONGLY recommended.

Things to do BEFORE coming to the tuning session:

- Oil change
- Coolant flush
- ***Replace spark plugs*** (A must)
- Fix all fluid leaks
- Tranny and diff oil change

Please consult this FAQ webpage http://www.rotaryx.com/stevekan/faq.html to answer many common questions.

Also, please remember Steve is here to tune, NOT to fix your mechanical problems. He can help fix minor stuff, but we don't want to spend two hours trying to diagnose a problem. Cars that require additional time for repairs will be bumped to the end of the tuning session in the interest of time and out of respect for everyone else. Moreover, after the first hour of labor, Steve charges for his wrench time. So MAKE SURE YOUR CARS ARE IN 100% RUNNING CONDITION PRIOR TO COMING FOR THE TUNING SESSION!

Thanks!

~Ramy and Dan

Alright this is getting rediculous. I took a good amount of my time to come up with this post as well as making arrangements to make this happen, and then everyone who was interested has backed out.

I'm giving until SUNDAY to send your deposit in. If I do not see FIVE deposits by sunday night at 12 midnight I'm canceling the tuning session.

It's a shame but I'll have to talk to my wife and see if I can jump in on this. She had a fit of "I told you so" when the car failed emissions, so to get her to agree to further car tinkering will be hard. I'll post back as soon as possible. I'd like to swing by for a visit regardless of the outcome though.

Yep, both of the cars at my shop had to back out. I was under the impression this was getting pushed out further then the 28th due to a scheduling problem AND getting moved to CV2 which were both big selling points to me.

Neither of the cars here were going to be ready by the 28th.

Unfortunatley most of the people who were interested in tuning were located south in VA and refused to come north to DE, so Ramy and I decided to accomodate as best as we could. Nova isn't that big of a hike honestly, from Bel Air it's only about an 1.5 hours or so.

Alex,
Read the entire post my son....payments to to Ramy,

NOTE: Send in the deposits now, if the session does not take place then they will be refunded in full.

He has stated many times if you would like to get ahold of him to e-mail him instead of PM.
I think his email is info@fdnewbieimports.com or ramy@fdnewbieimports.com can't remember which.

Yep still around, but see you have moved away...shame.

Unless I can work some mad overtime between now and the tune, I'll have to pass. Just got the 30K service done at PBC and that set me back about $450. To think I could've used that for Steve.
