have you thought of ls1 conversion? motor and 6 speed tranny go for about $4500 depending on mileage. add another $2k for the conversion parts and you're gold.

That's what I like to hear!

If you're strapped for cash and can find a decent car that runs, swap everything in. If not, go all out and either get a fresh rebuild with new housings and rotors ($$$$) or do it yourself.

Good luck.

Go to a junkyard, check your local papers, find publicly open auctions for cars, etc. You will find SOMETHING!

You should have no problem finding one at an auction. The last one I went to, over a year ago, had 5 FC's, all different models and years. Never bought them though. And they went for cheap, but none of them ran. When I say cheap, I mean cheap. You could've bought it for the amount of change in your pocket.

you can do the ls1 swap a lot cheaper if you are willing to do more work.
for example, buy this crashed trans am for $4000 in philly:

http://www.ls1tech.com/forums/showthread.php?t=620917

sell the interior and good body panels, rear end, glass and wheels for approx 2000.
so now you have a ls1, t56, ecu and harness for 2000.
buy the conversion parts for under 2000, and you are gold for under 4000. done deal. any questions?

You can just send your motor off to RotaryResurrection and have a rebuilt 13B with a streetport for under $3000 and you don't have to deal with purchasing and parting out a Trans Am.
