im prity sure the oil leak is coming out of the rear seal or stat gear but am intrested i the oil pedistal o-ring could this cause oil to drip from the counter weight?

Unless the car is non-stock, the flywheel and counterweight are cast as one piece.
That big nut isn't brass, it is the steel flywheel retaining nut. It is 54MM or 2 1/8" and torqued to about 300 FT-LBs. You will need an impact gun to remove it unless you can somehow manage to work a large breaker bar under the car (I find this to be very dangerous).
The oil pedestal is a common leak and the oil will end up everywhere on that side of the engine. It could easily look like a rear seal leak.
Stationary gear seals almost never leak, but I guess it makes sense to replace it if you think there may be a problem. Just do not let the engine rotate when you have the stationary gear out or it will be a hellish job to get it back in.

Ah, because you mention that there are bolts surrounding the main flywheel nut, it sounds as though you have an aftermarket flywheel. In which case it will be bolted to a counterweight. You will first need to remove it from the counterweight, and then remove the main flywheel nut to get the counterweight off.
