Meeting emissions in Maryland

I need to replace my entire exhaust setup because it has rusted out after years of sitting. The muffler shop told me it could run upwards of $1000 if I have to replace all three cats. I really think they are pulling my leg and want some more expert advise.

So I guess my question is what do I need to keep on/replace to be able to pass stupid Maryland emmissions.

Oh, it's a 1984 Gsl. Thanks!

Horse-*******-****. Whatever shop you got that estimate are cheating sacks of **** trying to steal your money.

Here
http://www.racingbeat.com/resultset....rtNumber=16417

You can have a straight and narrow exhaust shop mount that and make you a connecting pipe.

You only need 1 catalytic converter and a good shop can make you one to replace the presilencer. Take it home after you pass emissions and swap it out.

Ok, one catalytic converter is good, but is there a certain one I should be looking at?

Like ^he^ said, look into historic tags. 1st gens qualify if you can get one of the nitwits to realize Mazda isn't a model.

I have already talked on the phone with an idiot and their supervisor idiot and neither would even consider what I was trying to tell them. Has anyone actually gotten historic tags on their 20 yr old Mazda in maryland?

No and it's a CLERICAL error on their little bullshit worksheets.

There is a huge thread where I posted my theory, and many people tested and we came up with the final answer that the desk jockeys at the MVA are ******* retarded.

The MVA is convinced that Mazda must no longer be in buisness for us to get historical plates. When... in fact... That is not true. the MODEL must be discontinued to get temp tags in 20 years. In which case the RX7 is discontinued and we should get our damn tags.

I haven't been down there yet. Mine has a SC title which has MAKE and MODEL so when I get that damn broken spark plug out of it, I'll see what they have to say then.

I had some dumbass desk jockey agreeing with me at the Essex office after 1/2 ah hour on the phone. Hopefully the dimwit hasn't eaten since then and forgotten everything.

Does anyone know who sponored the bill? Maybe an e-mail to the state senator or some such would help.
