crashdummy, just reschedual the ticket twice, because the first day they give you is a day set aside for that officer just to go to court, but the rest are on their days off, so they usually dont come. Atleast that's how it is for Mo. county cops.

ive been pulled over like 8 times for speeding. this past weekend was the first time i got a ticket. 90 in a 50. i said i wasnt paying attention and did my usual being nice act and he told me to go to court so that i wouldnt get 5 points and he gave me just a warning for not having my registration. im lucky he didnt catch me doing 110 on the radar.

 

chris, I'd be willing to devote some time to this RPP project, although I will probably only be free on weekends.

which means you probably going to court in Annapolis.
Which means, you probably gonna pay the fine and
get the points. Sorry to be one to tell you. But AA. courts
are S O B. Trust me I know from experience and my Sister n Law.
Which just recently wen tto court for speeding.. They not giving
no slack. and if it was US Park police your screwed even worrse.
US magistrate alwys on power trip.

update!!!, for anyone who cares, I have a turbo in the mail and I'm excited, if anyone that's close to me wants to give me a ride to the garage on tuesday or thursday so I can take my injectors out so I can send them away to be cleaned that would be awesome *cough jessie or erik cough* .

dude the double T we went to is IN CATONSVILLE. the ellicott city one usually closes early and sucks.

 

We confused some people also. There's 2 double T diners on route 40. The one nearest Catonsville/UMBC/695 is the one most people imply. It sits on an intersection near a Walmart and Sorrento's pizza.

Just found out my buddy Eric just bought a Hatchi Roku(1985 Corolla, twin cam), its in mint condition, it looks basically brand new. Even tho hatchi roku is the incorrect term, its still a drift machine! omgz! I'll bring him up to the shop some time!

 

dude it's a ******* Corolla. not a hatchi roku or a hatchi. call it a freaking Corolla.


on top of that...despite my love for corollas...it's SLOW. that's right, it's a slug on the road. please realize this and stop worshipping it - it's not the amazing machine they make it out to be in Initial D. it'll probably be needing quite a bit of restoration if the dude's lucky. if he's not, then the frame, suspension, tranny and motor are all toast because of some stupid kid's overabuse, thinking he can driftOMGLOLZ.

i abhor people who go into something with a completely overblown image of what they're going to be doing...because in the long run, you'll be very disappointed and end up calling it a piece of ****, not knowing how to truly do what's needed for it.

first of all its easier to just spell it hachiroku. it doesnt need to be freakin glorified its just the pronunciation for 86. it is NOT God unfortunately for everyone.

oh yeah and its called a corolla. gt-s if you like. its name is NOT "AE86 hatchi rocookie drift monster" even if thats what yours happens to be.

 

It's _really_ slow. Without going into the power to weight or the mechanics of this or that. It's slow. The car was made in the 80s. I'm not the resident expert but I think on paper the specs are something like 120hp. Which if you loosely take the '30-35% rule' = 36-42 or avergaed: 39, so 120 - 39 = 81 hp. Yea. 81whp. You have to rip through all the gears and basically put the entire car on edge to do whatever you need to do. Drifting is cool. Initial D is cool. But people need to calm down about it.

I bought a 86 tribute japanese book for my friend. Basically they're trying to recreate the 86 from Initial D because the guy who wants it is the creator of the anime. It took 2.5 cars to make 1 good one, roughly 200 pages of pictures, and about a 1.5 years.

As for the drifting part. The 86 has a short wheelbase so it's hard to swing the tail out and keep it out. Which is the main reason why you see everyone drive 240s. 240s are really easy to drift and is considered the "beginner drift car". It's also more forgiving. 86 and a FC are probably a couple degrees harder comparatively speaking.

True. So True. It might be the 600$+ 6-puck complete 100% non-streetable race clutch that's destroying his car? hmm. I don't know. "I" don't drift so obviously my "opinion" doesn't count.

yeah, they've got 120 hp at the flywheel. no, not to the ground...at the freakin flywheel. it's a 1.6L...SLOWSLOWSLOW. i mean hell, i have no delusions of grandeur with my corolla....but at least it's a 1.8L.

ugh...i wish people would stop overglorifying them as speed demons. they're fun, sure...once they're running right...but that takes money...and as YF19 and my friend has discovered, working a low paying job while trying to live out of ones parents house and trying to restore a car that's already in bad shape is just barely feasable.

 

wow, I think he should have put his flame suit on first...some people woke up cranky today. Just let the kid have fun and enjoy his car. As for the power side, most people swap out the motor anyway. Chill, relax, have a cup of coffee and enjoy the crappy day.

 

Heh, i'm wondering if this is the same red 1985 GT-S with a ding or something on the right side of the car near the wheel that I saw maybe about a week or two ago for $1900..... I was thinking about talking to the guy about it, then changed my mind and decided to let it go.....

lol, it probably woulda been a great daily driver and all, but I was really dishearted when I saw that the ad was basically pushing the car's price only on the sole premise that it was "A rare GT-S Drifting Machine that's so popular because it can drift and everyone loves this car because of it's drifting heritage". No pics or info of the odometer readings, no reads on problems with it or stats about how it's been upkept, just basic Carfax info about the specs of it and subtle hype from what i'm betting is an Initial D fan (nothing wrong with that of course, I too am a D fan..... but I know where to draw the line....)


Oh wellz, guess that 240SX is my next best bet for a replacement to my beater... but in the meantime, Neil is right..... turn down the flamethrowers you lovebirds, take a step back and breathe for a sec.... Tenacious is an oddball, but not totally some rice patty kid who's fresh off the high from cartoons and the D grand prix.... it's just bad pop culture hipness to blame for speaking about the Corolla in very distasteful Japanglish....... By the way Doug, if it's an 85 then it's a Hatchi GO, not Roku.... Hatchi means 8, Go means 5, Roku means 6.....
