i got a 939 based 3800 X2 for sale for 300 bucks without OS. has 160 gig DVD drive, 512 of PC2100 memory, SB Live 5.1, Radeon x1300 PCI-E, and a D-Link wireless card. its at my house which is around the corner from fudds.

the memory speeds on the AM2 systems is horrid. yes its a slightly faster bus but the latency is 2-4 times WORSE (think 3-4-4-12 is best timing ive seen for 800MHz compared to the 2.5-2-2-5 on my PC3200). unless yer running the 800MHz memory, it will be slower. the bus is like a double DDR access, hence the 533MHz memory is actually about same speed as old 266MHz PC2100 with the much bigger CAS factored in. but in the end the 939 are being replaced by AM2 anyway. just glad i maxed out my 939 with the fx-60 before they dissapeared.

and my 25th b-day is this next wednesday.

no it doesnt, i manhandles the PCI-E video card into a normal PCI slot and soldered little wires to the pins to make it work.

its a single x16 slot with i think 1 x4 and 2 x1 slots (i'll doublecheck tonight). and yes it supports pc3200. the 2100 is the only spare memory i have thats compatable. i got 2 gigs of REGISTERED 3200 that was from my old FX-51 socket 940 comp (need to get a proc to get that system alive again)as well as 1 gig of different latency registered 3200 for the same system. shoulda been smarter and matched the latencies to have 3 gigs of RAM.

FSB is same as all 939 mobos.

EDIT:
off top of my head, i think it's this mobo. will confirm tonight.

its sarcasm because i listed the videocard as a radeon x1300 PCI-E, and then you asked if it was a PCI-E mobo.

right now the HDD has PC-BSD on it. i can sell it without an OS, or put whatever you would want on it. the comp is currently just sitting on my table.

the proc is the old one from my main comp before i got my fx-60, it works great and the dual core is nice. memory, will be a little slower but thats VERY easily fixed with going with PC3200. mobo is brand new out of box, same for case, everything else is previously used parts. its got a nice ThermalTake silent fan on it instead of the crappy OEM fan that comes with the CPU. wireless card i think is only 802.11b. DVD drive is a read only (cant burn).

17" CRT monitor with dual inputs comes with it for free.

If I had FD rims I'd be in the market for that :P

But right now the only stuff I'm looking for is:

1) Axles that can take the torque my van puts out in 1st and 2nd
2) Rims that fit my van so I can mount decent tires
3) A good inspection place that doesnt care about mods
4) People to show up at this months Fudds meet (It's actually at Fudds this time!)
5) Mopeds/Moped parts

I just upgraded to an X2 5200+ AM2 with 2 gigs of DDR2-800 and it's pretty damn fast . before that I was still running a socket A though, so I don't really have much to base it on

thats a massive leap so of course its gonna seem screaming. I'm happy with my computer for a while (other than the whole creative labs not giving working drivers for their sound cards for vista).

my BSD server is a Socket A 1 GHz so i remember how slow they can be. heck my firewall is a SOCKET A 700MHz.

i got a 939 Athlon64 3200+ CPU for free if anyone wants it. and a XP 2800+ CPU and mobo if someone wants to try and get it to work.

you check to see if there are any trucks that have same sized axles or swapable differential/axles. i know dropping a 7mgte in toyota pickup like mine requires replacing entire rear assembly with one off a Tundra, so there might be something similar with yer van. check the mod boards for that project.

Thats a good idea, but the vanagon has an independant suspension :/

It has the beefiest VW axles avalable. (Sad, right?)

I might have to go custom. I wonder how much that will cost :P

Hrm, you can't stretch a 225 on the S5 T2 meshies? I've got 215's on there right now and I don't think it would be too much of a stretch to put 225's on 'em.

sidewall would be at an angle slightly, and might be more prone to popping the bead. if you did that...it would be more for rolling chassis

its mostly an issue of at what point does the angle of the sidewall detract from the structural support of the rubber on the rim? normally its a nice 90deg angle so its got a lot of holding power. hard turns and it will lean slightly to the side.

throw it on a smaller rim and its sitting already at an angle. it may be ahle to hold weight as is going straight but throw a hard turn and it may increase the angle its sitting at to a critical point where it actually will rip the bead and let out precious air.

whether this tire/rim combo would do that i have no idea...just a cautionary warning. it may be that it still will hold and will be perfectly fine. wont know till it fails. hell i blew one out on the correct sized rims cuz something punctured the sidewall while under hard turning pressure. riped entire tire off its bead but stayed on the rim...hence the pirelli in the 4 tire bundle
