Yup, that's a set of louvers.... They're REALLY cool when the attachment points rust out, and it comes off when you're on the freeway.... They get really good air!!!!!

This is gay. Replaced the water pump today and car seems to be running at normal temps until I get on it. Only got on it for maybe 2 minutes and temps started goin up a bit. After parking the car at home, I gave it a nice look over and I noticed no loss of coolant. I'm thinkin maybe something didn't go right with this block weld thing. It worked but its not working... that makes no sense but o well. Inspected the old water pump and there is no visible damage. Ugg... I'll do a more thourough inspection tomorrow. I need a haircut

Thats what RX-7s do stock, sit around 180 degrees or so and then you nail it and it climbs to 207 :p It is why they put dummy gauges in the S5, and why the S4's normal operating temp location is 1/4 of the gauge, while the 'after hard racing' position is 1/2 the gauge :p

Try 1/4 normal operating temp and 3/4 after some simple twisted roads at no less than 6000 RPM. Or... like this morning, just under 1/2 during normal driving (not more than 4K RPM) but goes back down to 1/4 if you sit long enough at a red light, say... a little over a minute.

I just doubt that the needle going over 1/2 is normal.

Perhaps the stopleak gunked up your radiator/thermostat? Maybe take off the rad and flush it?

Yea I started thinkin about that while I was driving to work this morning. I took the thermostat out before pouring the stuff in and got a new one since it was out anyway. Haven't put the new one in yet. I'll flush the radiator but I may just end up getting an aftermarket one anyway.
