I have no idea when it comes to body work/paint. I am the one that will rebuild the engine 20 times and have multiple color fenders and hood on the car.. ~__~ I do believe that some places would need a repaint though such as the roof and rear bumper.

I'm trying a new (to me) plastidip product. Mixed 50 grams of KP Pigments "Deep Sea Blue" pearls into the DYC topcoat on a black base. I still have to put the wing, mirrors, front lip, and weather seals back in since I ran out of time today but here's a teaser:

That looks GREAT Matt. Looks like mine with a much reduced price tag I'm sure. Nice job! Can't wait to see it in person.

That does look great, Matt. I love metallic blue, I may be getting it touch with you about dipping when I get my car back this summer. You're an expert now!

Also, is anyone in need of FC door glass? I have 2 driver's side and 3 passenger's side pieces. FREE if someone wants to pick them up.

Thanks guys, I'm happy how it came out even if I made a few mistakes. The new topcoat product is an amazing step up but it's quite a bit tougher to use than traditional dip. The whole project cost under $300 but many many hours in prep time. I'm happy to offer advice or help with dip projects

BEAT me to it

I've been thinking of Blurple with one one of the KP blue KP pearls, that or white with one of the KP yellow pearls, don't the "clear topcoat" since it will be my first pastidip job. Whatever I decide, it should be done by mid/end of May

BTW - Your plastidip job turned out NICE! Did you use 10g-15g of pearls per gallon?

I used 50g per gallon. 2 gallons of black PDS to get 4 base coats and 1.5 gallons of topcoat to get 3 pearl coats. I didn't do any gloss coats since there was only half a gallon of topcoat left and I was still getting the technique down. Maybe next time.

edit: there are SOOOO many colors to choose from it's hard to decide. I want to try them all. Never mind the color shift and chameleon colors :P

edit2: Took the car to work today. Snapped a quick pic in the parking lot. Couldn't wait to see it in the daylight for the first time

No gloss, only the pearl! For practice before I shot the car, I laid down 4 coats of black and 3 coats of gloss on an old bumper I had lying around. It came out incredibly shiny. The topcoat product blows away the old glossifier stuff.

Have you seen their new professional-grade removable coating called Autoflex? With that stuff you can't even tell it's not OEM anymore!

^Nope, not aware of the autoflex, going to look it up, but to be honest, I am trying to keep it as simple as possible, since it will be my first time. In fact, I am kind of worried about the pearls...

Autoflex is intended to be done at a professional level. Requires a paint booth, real equipment, and skill. But the results...

As far as pearls go, all I can say is practice on something first!

Practice?!?!?! hahaha, I am a man, I don't read instructions, much less practice

J/K Was planning on taking the hood off the car and practice on it, and then do the whole car (minus the hood)

I am really glad I decided to try this polishing. The main spots on this car was the roof and hatch and after going at part of the roof for a couple of hours and seeing that original color I have been slowing going over the rest of the roof and hatch. First picture is what it looked like before starting for both and second picture is the roof after.

Nice work, that reminds me of when I did the TR6. There was a night and day difference.
