The battery isn't that old, but I was planning on getting a new one anyway and relocate it behind the passenger seat this winter. I'll get a new one and hopefully be good to go (at least for saturday)

That is correct. The starting point is the IHOP in Gainsville, VA. When we get there we try to park in the back of the lot so that we can park the cars together in a line. Hopefully there aren't too many other patrons at IHOP and we can do that again. If you are showing early for breakfast make sure you get there early enough to be done with your food before 10am. IHOP isn't known for speedy service so leave extra time for that. I plan on arriving there between 8-8:30.

Everyone showing just for the cruise should be there by 9:30-9:45 with a full tank of gas so that we can hang out a bit and look over each others cars before heading out. I intend to leave at 10:00 AM sharp. I rarely wait for people that I don't have someone already there telling me that they will show. And, I never wait for the same person twice so be considerate and show up early.

So, last minute addition to the cruise... I got home from Brazil yesterday, the FD is down needing a rebuild and a new ECU, the DD (335i) is out for a coolant leak, and the Miata needs a new clutch. So.... Plans were to replace the clutch/FW in the Miata on Saturday, but I found out/remembered that the wife is teaching a class on Saturday, and needs the Miata for that.

So I'll be coming on my remaining vehicle (that happens to be working perfectly)... the Honda sportbike

 

Nice I'm due in a few months as well. Always a good time waiting to see if it fails or not. Speaking of fails, the FD has sprung a water leak just sitting parked so I've gotta see if I can get that knocked out tomorrow after work :|

 

How much water are you running in the coolant? :-/

 

Contact Ray Crowe, he's the parts manager at Malloy Mazda in Woodbridge. He's the 'go to' for stock parts for people around the country. Good prices, extremely knowledgeable, and he even owns a couple FDs. He should have one of that and one of anything else you need. If you see him, tell him about the cruise. Who knows he may show...


My immediate thought too I hope it isn't that. I have a float tester because I am super paranoid. They are cheap though so well worth the money.

If it is only a hose, let me know. I think I still have a couple of the odd spares around.

 

I run enough coolant to make it through a VA winter I assume the leak is due to the cold weather but hoping that it's just a hose/clamp or something. FWIW it never really gets below freezing in the garage.

 

Super excited for the meet tomorrow! My Mom is driving to my place after work (she lives in Charlotte NC), then we're going to polish up some of the vacuum areas of the map so I can hopefully get over 20 mpg on the highway...then hit the road in the AM!

 

I was afraid you were going to say that...but he is the only one between Philly and Newport News with 1. When I say 1, I mean he only had 1 left. I just couldnt find time to go to Woodbridge but I will make a run and be there when the his doors open at 8 am tomorrow.

 

That seems like a lot of effort. If you really need a replacement that bad I'd get a K&N or another aftermarket one from a local parts store and use that until you get some time to have an OEM one ordered (Ray can ship it to your house).

Hey guys!! Had a great time and fun cruise, eventually I'll get around to posting all the pics and vids! I must say that is the quietest rx7 meet I've ever attended, someone needs to go straightpipe for the next meet to switch things up lol.

Car overheated again on the way home, apparently the radiator was only half full even though I had topped it off before I left....crossing my fingers that my coolant seals are not nut the culprit :/. But filled it back up with coolant and my Mom drove it all the way home.
