Why are trucks even allowed on the Dragon?

US 129 is a Federal Highway . Unless it is absolutely impossible for large trucks to make the corners the authorities are hesitant to restrict such traffic. The nearest routes over the mountains are at some distance. I-40 is 50 miles to the north and US 64 is 40 miles to the south. Both are prone to closings because of rock slides. In late 2009 both were closed at the same time for several months. Truck traffic is not allowed over US 441 through the Great Smoky Mountain National Park. We do see a few trucks come over the Cherohala Skyway, but since on a map it is only a State Route, it is not usually considered by truckers.

To the unsuspecting driver US 129 looks like a good route between Knoxville and north Georgia . Once they see how twisty it is they are committed to keep going because there is no place to turn around. The warning signs recently placed on each side of the Dragon just do not get the attention of some truck drivers.

Driving two cars at one time will be hard...especially on a twisty road like the dragon.

I would like to know how much really takes place on each day. I guess Saturday is the main day and Sunday is kinda quiet? How much really takes place on the Thursday and Friday?

OK thanks.

I just booked the room so if you guys did not book yet, try to book soon, the rooms with double beds are filling up fast. I got one with a fireplace, jacuzzi and a balcony.

The basic rooms with 1 king bed is $250.

If you want a basic room with 2 queen beds it's $300.

You're funny Roan and I are working on our relationship so I cannot say the things I used to say in the past. Are you coming Rob?

On a side note I spoke to Edgar (E&J Throttle Body & ALS Seals) he did not know about it but is now coming as well. He's bringing the billet rotors and a few toys.

I've been away from the meets for awhile, maybe I'll try to make it down. I wanted Ray Wilson to tune my car, I figure while I'm down there I could have him do it, but I'm not sure that he tunes engines that he hasn't built anymore.

If I can make some sort of appointment with him then I'll definitely be able to make the trip.

I have a quick and important question that was brought to my attention by Chuch earlier this week. Are we mapping out gas stops for people that are running E85 in their cars? I know there must be some sort of schedule for gas stops and all that but the E85 is alot harder to find and those guys have to fill up quite a bit more often than the normal 93 octane guys. Just curious how we're gonna be working that out.

check the E85 website, personally I would never have tuned a car to run ONLY on E85, I think you should always have a backup plan
