i find you to be pretty closeminded, myself - but it's all a matter of perception, isn't it?

 

I know I'm doing wrong. I like it. I don't talk bad about GOD/JESUS.. I talk bad about organized religions and fanatics.

I ask questions none of you (you being organized religions and fanatics) can answer except with the word FAITH. You have faith in a book and story written by MAN. How can something go untainted for 2000 years? I have talk bad about all of you because you make the lives of others a living hell. Your religion pours out of our government and tells us that we have to live by your christian code of conduct. Gays and Lesbians can't get married or adop children. I can't smoke pot or trip on Acid. The only thing that sickens me about religion is the constant attempts by religions to swell their numbers and control others. But I'm not angry

Religion is the reason you can't trip on acid? Thats kind of pushing it...

 

It's called exageration... the point being, that if it is thought to be wrong, then it is wrong and will be stopped... I've never tripped on acid, not sure if I'd ever want to...

I'm suprised that they even allow abortions of any kind, I'm not a religious person, and I think they're wrong... but who am I to stop someone from doing such a thing? Why should any religion have an influence on such a thing?

Murder against the law? sure... it's an invasion of our freedom and right to live or what not... Smoking weed, same sex marriage, prostitution etc.... all things we should have the right to do, but can't... it's immoral or some ****, but hey... it's ok to get drunk as a skunk, kill yourself with alcohol poisoning or stupidity... smoke tobacco and die of lung cancer... have sex for free and get a few STDs...

Did you know it's illegal in the state of PA to give/receive oral sex?

Who the hell comes up with this ****... Those that think we're all going to go to hell for these things... Last I checked, this country was suppose to be free, to all practicing religions... I didn't know we were suppose to uphold the morals of christians...

People use religion to give them a basic roadmap to what they consider to be a "good" person, so do politicians. I agree that people should be able to make decisions on their own and find their own path through life. With full knowledge that the path will contain some mistakes and some successes.

However, the reality is that most people are too feeble-minded to succeed on their own. Hence religious legislation of our day-to-day activities. Those that see past it ignore most of the religious and political laws and still live decent lives, those that can't see past it live by the rigid set of laws put in front of them. I for one would rather have those people live by some set of laws instead of being out there bungling everything up for the rest of us.

In my bible, man should not lay with a man and same for woman with another woman, like JESUS i dont hate the person that do those things, But i disslike the sin ( ACT ). Most people like to hate on or fight those that speak the truth from the bible, and once again im not downing you or judging you. just stateing the facts, if you think that this is wrong then come to the cookout and we can talk about it, but again I DONT HATE YOU, I LOVE YOU LIKE A SISTER .

"The time the bible was written" is kinda amusing, considering it is not a single book, but an anthology of sixty-six books written over a thousand years.

But yeh, I don't see how that relates to this at all. The sinners can sin, thats what sinners do.

Those of "High Religious Standing" were exactly the ones Jesus preached against. Read what He said and you will understand.

And for the record, its still apparently commonplace for some christians to "take boys to their bed"...

 

There is not universal agreement among Christians about what is and is not a sin. In his bible, he may see it that way. But others disagree.

An interesting aspect of the issue is how certain churches and religious leaders have become fixated on it above all else. That fact alone makes their motivations suspect.

For example,
1, recall the 10 commandments (note which two are most important)
2. recall the seven Capital Sins (pride, avarice, envy, lust, wrath, gluttony, sloth).
3. note what is NOT listed in either of the above.

Look at some of their fat asses on television and you know why they ignore gluttony and search for something else to rail against. (Probably don't want to offend their obese donors either )

 

exactly. Jason, dear, i wasn't speaking to you. the OP is the closeminded one here. i wouldn't be surprised if he thinks his bible is the only version that exists, the way he's been talking.

to be flat-out honest...it's people like the OP who made me stay quiet for years about who i was. if i'd stayed that course, and stuck to being a FAKE "devout" catholic, i wouldn't be here today. the stress over it, the fear of the reactions i'd get if i were honest about myself...that had me tearing myself apart. the intolerance within the catholic religion disgusts me...and i'm so burned on christianity currently that i won't consider going back until my psychological wounds have healed over. i'm sure i'm being partially closed minded, myself, but at least i can admit my fault in that.

Sounds like you met a bunch of people who are probably suffering the same thing as you, but are just better at hiding it, and condemning you for it? Why would you EVER consider going back to something like that?

I remember a time in highschool (before I was a beliver), I was talking to a friend of mine about how open-minded I was. I said it was the only way to be and anyone who wasnt open-minded was pretty stupid and shallow, and wasnt even really worth listening to. Then he told me "Isnt that a rather closed-minded outlook, being closed-minded to closed-minded people?" :-p

 

these are the same kinds of people who say it's a sin to be who i am. i'm sorry, but i can't change certain aspects of my character. tried that, almost went insane from it. those who think it's a switch that a person can just turn it on or off are completely ignorant to the entire situation.

i'm sorry, i guess i didn't explain myself fully. when i was younger, no matter the christian-based religion i turned to, all had the same behavior toward me. maybe that came from growing up in hickville, MD...but that's what i grew up with. that's what tainted my entire view. i won't be able to look at priests/clergy the same way for quite some time. this also goes for the folk who think their way is the only way...or the people who immediately label me a sinner. examine your OWN life before you call me a sinner. yknow, that whole "judge not lest ye be judged" thing.

Hey guys once again im not downning or making fun or even getting on you, im just stateing whats fact. The WORD OF GOD SAYS it, and I did not write these commands. To the person that was talking about the 10 commandments, and 7 sins, it allso says that if a man lays with a man and a woman with another woman they will not make it into heaven. I'm sure that if GOD made if for man to be with man and a woman with a woman then it would have been 3 pair's of couple's in the Garden of Eden. Now tell me how is it that im condeming anyone from what i belive, if i belive in everybody else's faith whats the use of me trusting and beliving in GOD, and i have to stand on what i belive is right. I do know that there are different versions of the bible, i have read the KING James vers, and now i read the NIV- NEW INTERNATIONAL VERSION -,
LET ME ASK YOU GUYS THIS, DO YOU EVEN BELIVE IN GOD, IF YOU DO THEN YOU WOULD TRUST IN HIS WORD!!!! and if you dont then you will be lost, GOD calls whom he loves
