i can respect anyone's beliefs...but not when it's all fire and brimstone and ZOMG we're gonna DIEEEEEEEEE if we don't worship! oh, and they welcome everyone but ostracise those of alternative lifestyles.
...for the record, i am a bisexual female who was raised catholic. i don't respect the catholic church and it's treatment of its followers.
and to the OP...calling us "the homosexuals" isn't appreciated, either. we are people too.

There are many interpretations of Christianity. Some religions do not believe it is right to smoke, drink, sing, dance, or even drive cars. Others have completely opposite views.
If I understand correctly, the OP is asking people to observe his religion's standards of acceptable behaviour since he is organising the meet. That seems fair enough.
Those who believe in including generous quantities of alcohol at Christian social events can certainly find lots of company. Likewise, some churches welcome "alternate lifestyles."
If an Amish guy posted a message on this forum proposing a cookout with no alcohol, no smoking, long dresses/bonnets for women, no same-sex couples, and no cars, he might not get many takers. It doesn't mean they are not Christian, or don't respect his beliefs.
BTW, although I intensely dislike smoking (any substance), I don't regard it as a sin, per se. Gluttony, on the other hand, is a sin conveniently ignored by most people. No one is without sin.

Ok this is the deal, I'm not trying to judge or condemn anyone, this BBQ is simply for those that love JESUS and LOVE worshipping him and RX7's. Its simple, if you dont want to follow those few simple things then this is not for you. We all know that JESUS was and is ALL LOVE but for you to basically call me a hypocrite thats just not right, ex. If some Skinheads say rx7 meet and NO JEWS, BLACKS, GAY, and whoever is not pure white, (whatever pure white is) are they wrong or would you even attack them as you did this post? The thing that I was saying about cigs and drinking is, for those that follow the ways of CHRIST then we can meet and have a blessed time, if you do do those things then maybe this BBQ is not for you, plain and simple.

Why can you just have an rx7 gathering.. Why do you have to mix religion and cars? I think the point some of us are making is that its a car club. If you care so much about "Christian brothers and sisters", goto your church and ask them to go buy rx7s. Go preach to them about rotary engines and try to convert those christian brothers and sister about how rotary power is better than pistons.
Bottomline, learn to seperate cars from religion. Just as you know about skinheads seperating race, sexual orientation, and "JEWS".

You know, it's kind of irritating when people confuse christians and catholics :P
I reccomend doing a bit more reaserch if you want to engage in an educated debate on the topic

Well, yes, thats what the picture is. Where do you think that tradition comes from? Who burned people at the stake?
The followers of Christ?
Or the followers of something else . . . ?

No, that is not what I am saying. This is why I would rather discuss this in person, as online debate can be easily misinterpreted. I apologize for a lack of clarity on my part.
I am saying, is killing someone in a horrable way (for whatever human reason) really acting with the love of Christ Jesus? Is not Christ himself the one who said "Let him who is without sin cast the first stone?" Is it "Loving your God with all your heart" and "Loving your neighbor" to commit these acts? Who do these acts worship?
These acts were commited by people claiming to follow Christ, and they killed political enemies, Pagans, Jews, and even Christians (Tyndale is another facinating study in this matter), basically anyone who challenged the power and authority of the church/government.

A rather informative study on the histories of various churches: http://users.aol.com/libcfl/trail.htm

You're right, I think one of my favorite sayings ever is "Whats the difference between an argument on the internet and the special olympics?" I won't provide the answer for fear of offending anybody...
I think you'd get better responses to your cookout if you just made it a straight-edge cookout for people that want to breathe clean air and not ruin their livers and maybe share their opinions on religion and cars. Phrasing it as an exclusive religious meet is offensive to alot of people, a straight-edge cookout would attract people of all religions with the same interests and actually generate some intellectual debate.
Of course, if your goal is really to exclude people of other religions and beliefs, then I don't think its much better than if I wanted to have a cookout for only white people to discuss white issues. And you can replace white with whatever you want in that sentence, it doesn't change the fact that its offensive.

Hey, I agree with you.
I don't belive the posters original intent was to exclude anyone. He probably just wants to meet some 7 owners in the area who share his beliefs. He did say the invitation was open to anyone

Perhaps  I can't read minds :p
If I had the free time, I'd get a cookout together, but we already seem to have a lot of good meets around here, such as the Fuddruckers in Columbia (fun!)

Lighten up, it was a play on words, given the topic of an automobile-themed barbecue attended by Christians.
auto + christians + cookout = auto da fé
I never mentioned Catholics, but since you bring it up... Intolerance and persecution, including death penalties for heresy, is not unique to Catholics. Martin Luther himself proscribed putting "heretics" to death. Melanchthon, Zwingli, Knox, Calvin, and other Protestant leaders also advocated death for heretics. Thousands of Catholics, Jews, Anabaptists, and other Protestant "heretics" have been persecuted, imprisoned, tortured and put to death by Protestants in the name of religion.
