How much horse power is possible out all motor?
Hi I was wondering how much horse power can I get out of by staying all motor? I'm looking to get 400 to the wheels. Would this be hard to obtain? Also I used the search button but, can't find my answer. Thanks..
The only way you'll get 400 all motor with a rotary is to use a 3 rotor and even then you aren't going to get it without a bridge or peripheral port. It'll also cost more than just going turbo and will have many negative driving side effects.

I think that most average people with a decent tune are seeing around the 170ish HP mark, if you go a little more crazy with the porting and better intake and exhaust tuning, 200ish hp, then go P-Ports, and insane Bridge ports and J ports, and you can see the 200-250ish HP, but take alot of time and money to develop something like that which is why if you're aiming even for around the 200 HP and above area alot of people just opt out for a turbo charger as its easier and cheaper.
Personally I have a 12a Street Port, with ITB's and a pretty decent exhaust setup, and I'm aiming around the 170whp area with it. I think I'm closer to 165 right now but with a cooler air setup, better heat shielding and cooling, I should be getting closer to my target HP. With a Lightweight car, 200hp is still a plentiful for the street.

Why the hell would you want to shift every 7 mph and top out at 26? Exaggerration but you get the point. Everyone wants more. Here's a big secret in the performance world. More is almost NEVER better! More gearing is not neccessarily better. Bigger ports and more port timing is not neccessarily better. Higher rev limits are not neccessarily better. There is a place for everything though. It's called the race track. If you only use the car for autocross and that's what your shift points dictate is optimal, then I can understand. If this is a street car and you somehow feel that aggressive gearing is what is neccessary to beat a Honda Civic off the line, then I think you're nuts! There's a place for everything. The street isn't where being super aggressive makes you fast though.
5th gear is for cruising. That's what it's intended to do. It's supposed to keep the engine at lower rpms. It's not a performance gear. That's what you've got 4 others for. The gear ratio splits on the stock transmission are not optimal for high performance anyways. You'd have to completely regear it all and get them all closer together. Just changing the rear end ratio to somehow bandaid the stock gear ratios into being a bit quicker is a ghetto rigged way of going about performance and it will always fall short. Too many people don't understand gearing. They feel any one piece is the answer. You'd be better off going with a Guru Dogbox for performance. It's meant for the track which means 5th gear isn't an overdrive. Overdrive and high performance don't belong in the same sentence. An aggressive rear end won't make that true either.

100 hp would accelerate 100 lbs pretty damn quickly.
seats. So whatever a first gen weighs- 2300lbls +or- a few. That engine is putting over 400 to the ground I can guarantee that and I know a few other who are doing the same.
