Well, I've been PM'ing every member I can find on here that frequents the forums that has Kansas listed as their residence, we'll just have to see how many come out though.

Ok just the clarify...

Were meeting on Sunday September 29, 2013 at 1 p.m. in Shawnee Mission Park Shelter 8. I will create a thread for the meet when I get home.

One of the main points of discussion at the meet will be to see if we can find a central location so those of us to the East will be able to have a meet with the guys in the Wichita area in October before it gets too cold. That way we can get the biggest possible meet together in Kansas. If the Wichita guys are down for that?

There is a scenic byway out that way, I think Flint Hills, starts at the north end in council Grove. Goes south to I 35 between emporia and bitchita. May be worth looking into a spot halfway, it would be a much longer drive for the KC area guys though

 

Emporia state University should be about as close as half way for both parties. Just use one of their parking lots on the weekend not during a football game. Unless that's loitering?? On public campus??? Doubt it.

I used to meet up with the guys on mx6.com back in the day at a park in Emporia, its a good central meeting point for people from Wichita, KC and all points around. Unfortunately there isn't a whole lot going on in Emporia carwise.

 

I think Emporia sounds like a great idea. Do you have an exact location where this park is? Name, directions, etc? Invite the MX-6 guys!

If we can figure out the name of this park and directions, and everyone agrees, then I will start a thread so we can get this all together.

Is there somewhere in emporia that we could set up a grill an maybe have some beers? Id be down for somethin like that. I doubt the school would let us "loiter" in one of their parking lots

"you will be coming from I-35/335, because that is the way almost everyone gets into emporia. Take the Industrial St. Exit. If you are coming from the north take a right off of the exit, from the south take a left. Now you are going down industrial the first left will be 18th street, there's a burger king on that corner. Take the left onto 18th and follow it down to Prairie St. 18th ends here so you can't miss it. Take a left onto Prairie. Go about a 1/4 mile and there will be a park entrance on the right. Turn right into the entrance."

The park we used to meet at is called Jones Park. There is a few outdoor gazebos and grills, its been about 8 years since I've been to the meets but I can't imagine it has changed a whole lot. It is kind of a smaller park, but we shouldn't have a problem finding a place to meet up. The directions seem long but it actually isn't too far off from the interstate.

If there is no objection from you guys, I can invite the mx6.com guys. There isn't very many Kansas members over there either, but it might be nice to have some other Mazdas out and about.

 

Yes definitely invite the MX-6 guys! We want to get the biggest meet we possibly can. Ok once we get the details all ironed out we can make a thread to promote it.

What's best for everyone? Saturdays or Sundays? Time say 1? 1:30? Should we have everyone throw in a couple bucks for food and drinks etc for a BBQ? Post up any ideas that you have we need to get the ball rolling on this because October will probably be our last chance because it may get to cold after this.

 

When I threw my meet here in Wichita...I fronted for food and drinks based on who committed on going. I asked for kick in when everyone showed up...turned out ok...it was worth it to get together with some folks. So the meet Saturday is where??? I think the FD will be done and back in Kansas on Friday!!! My brother works Saturday till noon...so might be able to show up! FC maybe done as well!....I ruined my throttle cable....got another one...going to put it in tonight!

Finally! It's been a long time coming

 

So, meet in October 19th (Saturday), or 20th (Sunday)? Maybe meet about 1 that way we have to time to grill food if that's the plan? What's everybody think of that?

As of now I think we should schedule the meet at Jones Park in Emporia that was spoken of earlier. I just want to get the ball rolling on this so I can make a thread so we can see who all we can get out there.

 

Sundays work best for car stuff on my end. Down with getting/making food.

 

agree with sunday. FC runs fine now but hopefully I will have some more upgrades done to her before the meet!
