Well hey everyone, saw that no one has posted anything worthwhile so I thought I'd drop a hello. Just got the FD back from the mechanic, had to get some new front calipers as the original ones where locked up. Mechanic broke two tools to get the old ones off lol. It was a hell of a lot cheaper to get them from 7mania. 180 bucks shipped 2nd day USPS, versus a quoted price of 670 bucks a piece from sunflower mazda wtf? Anyways just wanted to see what everyone was up to. Later

lol, I'd wait till I get her fixed. Having a problem now with her dying occasionally while driving when she's warmed up. Hell if you see me stop me and say hi man.

Oh it is that boring.... Actually I just finished the rebuild on my 89, so I'm back in business. Red 89 gxl, I'm on the west side a lot.
Any of you wichita guys ever use the Mazda dealership for anything? I need my seatbelts fixed and figured I try to have them do it under warranty.
VietFC, what year/color is your car? Maybe I've seen you.

88/red TII with black hood. I usually go to the mazda dealership for almost everything if it's too hard to get from mazdatrix or something. But if it's your seatbelts that's the problem, they should fix it for you... seatbelts are always lifetime warranty... so they should do it for you.

Thanks, just put downpipe and midpipe combo on her a couple months ago. The front lips are a little scratched up because of the crappy entrances to the bank and other places. Car sits too low to go up them without scraping the front. It's ok though cuz I'm getting it repainted. Stepmom backed into the 7 when I was at my dad's house the other day and it mashed the front driver's fender and part of the front bumper, so they're gonna have it fixed. Later

As far as rebuilt turbos, I vote against it, have installed many sets of rebuilt turbos that only last a few thousand miles, BUT, Pettit's turbos last, just expensive. Look for a set of low mile used ones, you'll be better off and can find 'em for about $350!

Picked up an 84 GS 5-speed part car, so the plan is to convert the 85 and part out the 84. Hope to have it done over the Thanksgiving weekend. Will keep the front clip from the 84 and paint the 85 next spring.
It's been a great father/son project. Doug has forgotten more about auto mechanics than I'll ever know, so he's been my mentor. Couldn't have done it without him.
