you need to get a wide band so you can figure out whats goin on. you can pick one up used for a little more than 150$

Steady state is much easier to fix than transients so be happy.

Do you have stock ECU?

If you are running a stock ECU you are running rich.

If you use a narrow band and it shows lean it's because it's running rich and misfiring and is showing up lean due to the missed combustion cycle.

The best way to test it is to put 550cc back in and put the enrichment back to zero.

What you probably need to do instead is lean it out at the TRANSITION point not at the RPM.

the SAFC probably can only do rpm which is where your problem lies.

The ecu will bring on the secondary injectors based off load not rpm.

I would recommend putting in 550ccx4 and richening it up 5k+.

The stock duty cycle is relatively low - you should get a wb and make your life easy.

You're trying to write a book with a stone tablet and chisel.

There are easier tools to do the job.

He has a wideband it's a PLX that I sold him off my car. It works great. That's how we know it's running lean past 4.4k.

He also has a rtek chipped ecu, the one that was in Blade's FC, I'm not sure what model it is 1.7 or 1.8 I think. It is set for 550cc primaries and 720cc secondaries.

I'm thinking with the larger compressor side of the turbo and the addition of the front mount and new intake manifolds it is simply just too much air for the injectors.

is he still using a stock MAF? that could be the issue also. The stock sensor can only measure so much air, once its maxed out it cant tell the ECU that any more air is coming into the engine- so it wont give you more fuel- which would cause you to run lean once the boost comes on.

Yeah he is still on the stock maf sensor. Is there any remedy to that problem? I'm unsure when they max out?

they can only read to 1 bar (14.7 or 14.2 psi {one is a bar, the other is stoich burn, i get them confused})
either way, not much over 14 psi.
i ran 13 psi on my turbo, with the 750cc secondaries, and the afc neo, and had no problems.
how much boost were you running?

He said he got it down to 10psi so the maf shouldn't be maxing out. It's still leaning out around 5k around 15 afr's. He just ordered some 1200cc secondaries. His Safc screen quit working yesterday so he's kind of stuck til it gets fixed.

do you know what kinda injector times he is runnign when he goes lean?

i would almost be suspect the 2ndary injectors are having issues- if you remember my fc during the meet @ Ian's i couldn't get anywhere above 4-5k.

turns out my secondaries had a bad ground.

Lol - all that information is needed to trouble shoot the probem. Makes a big difference when we actually know what components are going on.

He most likely swapped his secondary injector clips if he did any work to the engine.

1200cc will not help him.

LOL what do you expect? It's not my car and I haven't really worked on it at all. I don't know the exact specifics on what is going on like Brian would. I'm trying my best to give you what little info I have on it.

If the injector clips were backwards then the car wouldn't even run, right?

Nope it would run just fine until you try to transition (idle/cruise/etc) and use the secondaries.

I'm only talking about the secondary injectors being swapped (they dont run all the time).

You can get into boost too b/c your dumping fuel into the intake just at the wrong time so it's when the combustion chamber is closed.

It would fight boosting but just like anything u can force it too......

Great way to blow an engine tho.

Easy thing to check - could be another reason your gasket went out very fast since it ends up with a very bad burn and ends up in ur manifold unburnt- not much atomization when u inject the fuel at wrong time.

i tried to post up my apexi neo for sale, like 3 times, and they wont approve it, and then "Mar 3" sends me this, with no explanation as to why...

"Classifieds behavior

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Do not create anymore threads or ads on the AFC or they will all be deleted.

Please read the rules on selling here and understand them.

Mario III"

ive never had any problems before...
why now?
i always include the state icon, for sale header, asking price, etc..
wtf?

Mind you, the third attempt to post the same ad came almost a day and a half after the first one was released...what part of bump is missing from the rules? And remember..."emoticon-only" or "ttt" bumps are invalid and get deleted by the Moderation ****'s...FYI

this is as clear as......mud.
Ian, do you understand what the problem here is?
perhaps you could clear things up a bit?
i tried to post an ad in each section (fb, fc, fd), but it appears that they all showed up in the FD section.... which would be why they got deleted?
and...what does "released" mean, in reference to a thread?

*****, then mud, oh what must a minority bear, I tellz ya??

They didn't just "appear" in the 3rdgen board...YOU put the same ad in the same board three times!

Can't read a report? OK...here's how you did it...

First ad is created for the 3rdgen Parts board, it goes to the Moderated Threads board. As the rules clearly state, these moderated threads may not get approved immediately. "It can take 2 minutes to 2 days, be patient."

You were not. You created ad #2 5 hours later, a copy and paste bit of the first ad, into the same 3rdgen Parts board. Now, as luck would have it, none of the other mods seem to have noticed that no one was working the Moderated board. I had swept them clean Friday, Saturday and Sunday afternoon essentially by myself and decided the rest of Sunday, I was not going to look again.

I checked in Monday while at my day job and that was when I saw the ads. They were stacked deep from Sunday. Your ads were released at 2:38 and 2:48 PM in the 2ndgen and 3rdgen parts boards, respectively. I go on and get most of the rest but there's still a bundle of ads and well, AT&T isn't exactly paying me to be a SuperModerator of RX-7 Club, so I have to do their work also.

I get home, get something to eat, check the boy's homework, try to start the lawnmower, no go, then go upstairs to crank up the PC. All the ads are still there...I start in on them and then run into your second ad, which is a copy and paste of the 2:48 PM one already released and viewable by the public, in the 3rdgen parts board. It got deleted because it was a dupe of the first ad which I had already "released", hence "Dupe thread per 896587"...the number being the ID of the thread on our website. "Released"..? That is an ad/thread being held in the Moderated Threads board until it gets "released" out of there by a Classifieds Moderator...at that point, anyone can then see your ad on the website, as was the case of the first ad released at 2:48 PM. It was past 8 PM when I deleted that second ad.

Anyway, that all happens Monday and Monday night, deep.

Now, it's Tuesday, the ad in the 3rdgen Parts board has been out there for a bit and then suddenly, a new ad appears in the Moderated Threads board. Hot dang, it's the same copy and paste job again and it's created in the same 3rdgen Parts board, yet again.

That's three ads created on the same part in the same board in less than 24 hours.

Is that part clear?

I deleted that third ad and then sent the PM since enough was enough.

Patience is a virtue, hot dawg.

Oh man, this is good stuff. Mario is my hero!!!

Anyways, what seems to happen when stuff gets backed up as Mar3 explained - people dont think to check on the 2nd or even 3rd page of the classifieds sections. The FD board is the fastest moving one so the threads move back really fast. I'm not saying that you didnt look Blade, its just that you may have missed it. Either way, if you have any more questions feel free to PM me and I will do my best to answer them.
