What to do next? Help in tuning

I got my rebuilded engine shipped from Australia with already adjusted Microtech ECU. We installed everything and the car was running fine, it was not fine tuned after install.

Here is the short list of installed:

Complete rebuild series 5 motor
New seals, springs and rings
Balanced rotors
Mid porting
High flow series 5 turbo, reconditioned
Racing Beat complete 3" full exhaust system
PWR Aluminium radiator
PWR FMIC Intercooler
Bosch 040 fuel pump
Primary injectors -2 x Rochester 1000cc
Secondary injectors - 2 x Rochester 1000cc
Microtec LT10 standalone ECU
Microtech X4 ignition
Bosch coils
BLITZ SBC -ID III boost controller
OMP removed, running premix

I had problems with the turbine, so I upgraded to Garret GT35/40.
We made custom manifold with external Turbosmart wastegate.

I limited the boost to 10psi with new turbo and added +8% to MIXtrim value on my setup, to be safe.

As here in Croatia there is no one that work with rotaries, and noware close in europe to tune it, I have to tune it myself.

I checked the Microtech values, and most of it is almost the same as base fuel maps posted on this forum.

Here are some screenshots of my setup: (MIXtrim value is +8%)

http://img197.imageshack.us/img197/4369/77552207.jpg

Car is running fine up to limited 10psi, i didnt want to go over, but it mileage is very poor.

Here are the screenshots of AFR/BOOST/RPM data (does it look rich on cruise, on high vacume?) AFR ~11.0

And this is WOT run in 2nd and 3rd ~11.0-12.0

What do you thing, what should i do next ?

Current maps in the microtech are made for the stock turbo, now I upgraded to GT35/40

I am wondering do I have to change timing maps maybe? How do I check that?

I know I have to change the load map, lover the fuel on vacume, ad add some fuel to 10+PSI

What AFR should aim to on boost?

Shoot for what ever Afr your car likes to idle. Don't worry about a number for idle. All cars are different and will idle diff.

Also what's you t_rpm map. That'll let me know what your timing actually is and did you set the static to -5 like factory?

Me personally I leave my split at 15* accross the board. I don't believe in firing the trailing earlier then needed. Too chancey for a couple extra hp.

In boost shoot for around 10.9-11.3 it's a lil rich but it's safe. I've always shot for this on all cars I've tuned and have not had a failure yet.

Next for cruise set up your cruise map so that you get around 14.0-15.5 Afr. Just set the cruise staging point around 10"hg( you may have to play with the staging, all motors and driving cruise at diff vacuums).

Until you post up the t_rpm map I can't help you with the timing. Usually for me I set the map to what I've always used and leave it. I don't play with it too much in boost and like to stay around 15* at 15psi.

You'll need to have it professionally tuned eventually but 10lbs on the gt35 is more than 10lbs on the stock. Pressure of course is the same but you have a lot more volume as well as coler air from the bigger turbo. So be careful with that. What u can do is turn the mix trim back to 0 so that's not fucki with you and increase all points in the load map by 5-10 clicks and start from there. Make it rich and start pulling fuel out slowly. Never really wanna start lean and add fuel. Too risky.

Good luck and post up those other maps as well as your option screens.

Zack

Also do you have a tuner there in Croatia or are you trying to tune it yourself?

I will check static timing value tomorrow.
Is 5* too small?

Oh yea. Typically around 15* at 15psi is a good sweet spot. I can post my map up for you to cross reference but remember my timing values are exact values. I stab my motors at 0* tdc. But should be good for your setup also cause I run a t67 with 9.4:1 rotors.

There are no tuners that have experience with rotaries, so they are too afraid to take the job.

So I am trying to tune it myself

I have a LM1 wideband installed and a pressure sensor installed so I can make nice logs.

I dont have egt installed, but if needed, i will.

Thanks for the help

Nice car Dodo,
Microtech je zajeban kompjuter lol
you wont get good economy in normal mode,
I recommend you tune in matrix its very easy and will improve economy,
still not as good as other ecu's out there with closed loop and more resolution, better staging etc.
I plan a visit to Zagreb this summer, if you will still have the car I can tune it for you
