timing issues

So i installed new freshly rebuilt engine cas marks perfect and it fires right up. I go to set timing lock it and it shows im about three inches away. Try to adjust it and she dies but runs great where its at with cas lined up right. I put light on t1 wire and its closer to mark than l1 is. I then rechecked wiring with ohmeter and i do have my leading and trailing coils correct. Someone please tell me what im stupidly overlooking. To try to get it lined up right im turning cas counterclockwise to the end of slot then she dies

Needs more fuel in the idle map. When you retard timing it wants more fuel hence it stalls. richen the idle map up

should i set timing and tps at where im going to run car at or at factory specs. Its running pig rich right now. Why would trailing be closer to mark than leading and me maxing out slot on cas to get ti line up? Ill try to richen up tomorrow and see what happenes.

It is normal for you to retard the CAS nearly all the way for the marks to line up.

USE L1 to line up your marks. NOT T1

you can restab the CAS one notch around ,, or you can use the timing trim on screen 30

-- firstly make sure you have no current value in the timing trim or in the static timing

Yes unless its an FD use L1.

Also show us a pic of how the CAS is stabbed and also make sure timing lock is on.

yes timing lock is on even though it doesnt seem to make a difference on or not. I know to use l1 i was just making a statement that my t1 was closer to mark on cover. i threw another cas in and the marks now are only a hair away but still wont line up exact. I tried to install a tooth off and i cant advance it enough to get back to mark.

when its just out of reach you dive into screen 30 and adjust the timing trim value

Is this where the CAS is supposed to be with the e shaft pulley timing mark lined up?

After reading the manual again, I lined up the marks on the CAS shaft and gear then reinstalled the CAS with the e-shaft set pulley set to it's timing mark.

Is that correct?

oddly i can advance timing with screen 30 but retarding doesnt change much. i drove today first time and have much issues with fuel. light acceleration is in 15's and cruise hits 17's. hard to check hard accel and stay out of boost though but it seemed in 13;s. is it normal to see 15's on an accel and around 5 inches of vaccum. laptop died while out so i guess ill richen up tomorrow

You want it around 14:1 in most of the cruise areas and bring it down to 13:1 at 00HG and go richer from their.
