Microtech newbie - Map, injectors etc.
Couple questions for a new microtech user...
Unit is Lt10s, stock coils, on an 87' t2.
1st question. I need a base map to get me to the dyno:
720/1000 RC injectors.
Walbro pump
BNR Stage 2 hybrid
Greddy fmic
Apexi power intake
I think that's all you need to know? Much more but that's the bone.
Yes I know there is a thread by taz8924pr about a map with 550/1000. But I would rather ask, than be sorry.
2nd question. With the injectors being low imp. Am I fine just to wire it straight up and don't have to worry about resistors? The car is an early 87', so stockers were the low imp.
3rd question. Does anybody have pics to there hand controller mount?
4th question. So I plan to run the hand controller, at cruising around times and what not. But when I go to the track, the laptop will be in to make sure everything is good. Probly newb question here... When I load the map up, through the dongle and laptop does it go straight to the ecu as well? Or does the map stay stored in the dongle? Reason I ask, is say if I remove the dongle and go back to the hand controller the map may not be there. It's just this whole dongle thing, with it being capable of holding 3 maps or whatever it's. Little confused.
Alot of questions here I can probly figure out upon the first boot up. BUT the ecu is currently sitting here beside me and going into the car this weekend. I really am all about preparation. So thanks for your patience. I really wish I had a instruction booklet.

i'll help where i can....
Question 1:.. I wont help you there..try find a map that posted already or pm Rx72c
Question 2: As far as i know you dont need any resistors to run the low imp injectors. So you should be fine
Question 3: I have a FD and my controller is not permanently hard mounted..still trying to find a perfect place to put it.
Question 4: Both the Dongle and Handset holds 4 maps each. YOu cant really store multiple maps on the ecu. The ecu only keeps the last map that is loaded to it and stores that map as is until you make a change in the setting or load a different map from the handset or dongle. The ecu doesn't require the handset or dongle to run. The handset and dongle are just there for interfacing so you can see whats happening on the ecu and to store different maps.
So if you loaded a map..lets say HandMap1 from the handset on to the ecu. What you have done know is replaced all the map settings that was existing on the ECu with the HandMap1 settings from the handset. If you unplug the handset the car will still drive just fine and not care cuz the settings are still loaded and stored on the ecu. If you plug in the dongle and hook it up your laptop the same HandMap1 settings are still going to be there and will not change unless you load a new map off the dongle to the ecu.

Thanks alot for the answers, helps alot.
The mounting of the unit really bothers me... May have to just let it sit loose as well. I sat in the car, with the unit in my hand. Putting it all over the place to figure something out, and no dice. Only spot is maybe under the stereo deck, but than that means no more gauges.

good to see your using the microtech section travis, its filled with lots of helpful info. like I told you I will help you where every I can when I'm out your way
as far as a map, if you look at the top of the microtech section you will see a thread called "TII Stock Base Maps" there is a good place to look first
