After about 3 weeks of messing off and on this MS w/spark and i just cant get the MS to read a rpm signal from the ( SINGLE ) Vr sensor.

The Specs.

MS with spark V3.0
Running the 29T Firmware
Using a Custom Adapter I made to go to the Factory ECU witch I no is correct because i have double and triple check the dam thing, I get a signal from all the sensors just no Engine speed at all.

All the sensors are working, just no rpm signal

We are using the stock CAS with 2 missing teeth

So in the MTune we have it

12 tooth
-1 Tooth

Here is the picture that i used to set the Wheel decode.


Also i have the trigger positions set as shown


And we have the spark setting as below

We have the TSEL to VROUTINV on the inside of the board

and the board was in Optical input but we changed it to VR input

But after all that we still dont have any spark signal,

we no that the CAS is working because we used the stock ecu to show rpms when we turned the CAS.

I just dont think we have the right Map? or what ever it is called that tells the MS what it is suppost to do.

I have the Spark coming off the LED's like what the FAQ says to do.

One question we have 2 LED's on all the time the two on the left side if you are looking at the MS from the led side with the 3 LEds being on the right side of the box.


I AM A STRIGHT UP NOOBE to this MS ****, I am VERY VERY good with a Power FC in my FD but this dam thing is so cunfusing. I just need to no what could be the problems and after i get a RPM signal i can start the tuning process.

There are two adjustment pots for the VR circuit. Turn them both fully CCW until you here them click. Also, you need only two trigger events, not three. See the FAQ for details. Post up an .msq for others to look at. Are you running the latest MegaTune? That wheel decoder page looks different than mine.

Yeah, that looks like you're running a pretty old firmware... one that may not even have working rotary support.

What version of megatune should be 2.25 i think? did u run the File - Configurator to set it up 4 msextra in megatune?How to load the code to megatune::first find were u download the code to double click copyini.bat,***(make sure to read what code it is in the dos box after u click the .bat file), then run the megatune File - Configurator,, left side pick and highlight msns-extra.ini029t **(or what ever file u saw in the dos window) click file ,, click activate then click (left hand side)car1,, settings,,code_variant and on right hand side at the top click little down arrow and select msns_extra-james murray and phil ringwood's MsnS extensions,,then click save!! there was a page some were on http://www.msextra.com/ that explaned all this but i cant find it,,i wounder if the code comes preloaded now or some thing!!If i remember right u need megatune version 2.25 for the msextra code!Worry about the 029v code it gave me and other problems (other people it didnt), so don't use it at first,if u want to try it,, try it after u get the car running!

Man thats one LONG sentence! Between that and the "IM slang like my 15 year old uses.......well you get the idea.

And for what its worth, the latest code and Megatune can be found at the top of the MS forum.

That is not the exact page, i only used that picture to show the points.

I have the latest MegaTune 2.25 and the Firmware on the MS is 29T I no that for sure

I dont think that i was activating the correct stuff before, so that is one of the problems I think

I also was told about the VR adjustment, but i didnt no how/what i was doing with the adjustment so i didnt mess with it at that moment.

I will do everything that i was told to above and post the results.
