My death...Modded Z06 vs FD

So I was on my way back from a JGTCA meet down 294 from the NW Chicago burbs. Ran into a yellow Z06...from what I could tell pretty damn well modded. I could see some kinda fuel system going from the rear end. Anyway, I kinda passed him minding my own business doing about 80 or so. He got behind me and stayed petty close for a couple of minutes. I slowly brought it up to about 100 and he stayed with me. So I found a clearing and took off to a higher rate of speed...he eventually caught up and didn't really try in the process.

So...some seconds later, he was on me again and we both found a clearing and punched it. He didn't like it so much so he moved to my left and proceded to keep on going. He got me by about 1/4 to 1/2 car a second. All the way up to about 140 or so. We did that a couple times with the same result. We hit a toll booth and afterwards, I got even with him to give him props...but he was dead intent on not looking over. Seemed that he was being a little pompous to me...Mr Big Bad Vette owner. Eh...sore winner. Finishline Performance looks to be the place he went...and I have his plate. Anyway...so it was a valient death as far as I'm concerned. I was running on about 15 or so pounds or so (with some spikes). And funny...I have been running 100 at 18 for a while...hell of a time to stop.

Wow, GT35R and all...guess the fuel system upgrade should be a dead giveaway! I'm gonna guess a 150 shot or more.

What do you mean by 1/2 to 1/4 per second? is that how he was walking u?

Yeah...best guess as to how quick he was pulling away. I am tuned relatively conservatively and as of last year about this time...90/85 average compression f/r, so...

Well...this may give me the motivation I need to say screw it and rebuild anyway.

As far as what I'm putting down...dunno yet. I may set something up this week to find out.

I've had one vette owner acknowledge we were racing...he pointed at my car and said, "that thing is badass!" hahaha!

other than that, they just cruise by (from my rear) and don't look over...sorry to hear about the death, I'm yet to find a modded Z06 outside SCCA...and they spank me all over the courses.

should have raced him from a stop, maybe all that torque would have made him spin bad and lose. find out what kind of power your making cause at 15psi on my setup on 93 pump makes 403 rwhp. thats more then enough for a 11 sec slip.. z06 must have had a good amout of work..

True true. But that was a fairly modded z06. A zo6 has potential for high 11's anyway...so if that turbo puts you in the 11's and a z06 is modded it actually should edge you out. Its alright, show em whats up when u upgrade...

It definately does not take a good amount of work to put a z06 into the 11s.... a couple of boltons and a small cam will do it.

A lot of work to keep up with a GT35 7? Are you joking? I am an owner of a 2000 c5 and ex-owner of a 3rd gen with a ls1 swap. I am still a 7 enthusiast, but I am truly a believer of v8s now. LS1s are no joke guys. Camaros with 450 rwhp sees 10sec passes and that's not even a stripped out car. I remember pulling crazy out of a dig against another rotary 7. LS1s in a 7 is the ultimate setup for a street car. All you need is a heads & cam, konis, and tien springs. Damn I miss that car. Stupid flood. Check out hinsonsupercars.com

A stock Z06 wouldn't be too far behind a GT35...eh..

Actually with a good driver, it's only DRs away from high 11s as long as DA isn't too bad.
