Unhappy Killed by an IX MR... (Shutdown)

Well raced an evo 8 with some mods but he didn't seem to keep up so I'm assuming I would have mopped him. His buddy though was the one I was running. I see two evo's leave the lot (8 & 9 MR). Both sounded pretty nice but nothing special atleast to the ear and eye. I lined up with his buddy on a nice freeway by me, we get to about a 10 mph roll. His buddy was behind us doing the 3 honk so it was even jump. He immediately jumped a good 2 car lengths on me by the end of 2nd and partially through third. By fourth at around 120 I started reelin him in. I finally got into 5th at about 125-135 I wasn't really paying attention at that point. I'm at his door at this point and he finally shuts down. Almost had him to but very close race none the less.

My mods at that point in time...
HKS Smf intake
RB dual Tip CB only
Koyo Rad
Lightweight battery
Running a 1/3 of tank + Bose was in + me being about 145lbs.

nice run man, the evo IX is a good car, no one can't take that away from them. get a standalone and up the boost a little, the outcome will be different i assure you that.

there is a huge difference between the evo 8 and the evo 9 as far as performance. I cant wait to see how the 10 will perform.

I had an Evo IX, imo, they are faster than a stock FD, def more torque, and the handling is amazing. The problem I had with it was it felt like I was driving a ricemobile. I liked the car and it as cool looking and fast but still, see my sig.......

Hahaha, I'll stick to my healthy diet.

Mcdonalds = heart attack for me (Especially considering my fam has a history of it)

What's the deal with the text above your avatar? project car? I'd assume you'd beat an evo with a triple turbo 20b

the evo 8 and 9 have the same engine but the 9 has more power output from it. The 10 is a completely new engine.

thats funny, i was just about to post a "kill" for an evo 8.

i got my DP on and tight and went cruisin last night. I saw a nice looking evo8(kinda rare here) so i followed him for a while, then he followed me for a while. finally we both did a u-turn and lined up even at about 45mph. I punched it in 3rd(still learning the car) , he hit it as well. i pulled a good 2 cars on him by the end of third. i heard him shift a few seconds after we floored it,so this may have been a bad speed for him.

we pulled over and talked. great guy. he had intake, catback, and manual boost controller turned up to 20 psi. I told him something must be wrong, he should have walked me. im stock, except DP, and im only makin 10-5-8 boost pattern? nonetheless, it was fun

EVO X has been tested by one of the magazines out there. It had the same (or slightly slower) 0-60 time and 1/4 time but suppose to be amazing around the corners~

Sorry thats a future project down the road. Right now I like my Rew better and soon to be single turbo once I get this whole setup complete.

20B-REW is the engine code of the 3-rotor. No excuses, go do the swap and kick that glorified DSM's ***!

I think you shoulda kept it in 4th til the end. Usually, well i know for me, takes a bit of effort and time to get from 4th to 5th, especially if you are doing it fast and especially if you have a short shifter like i do.

I think if you woulda kept it hard in 4th, you woulda reeled him and passed him.

Racing from a 10 mph roll was the mistake. At 10 mph, you are at such a low rpm that you have no power at all .......... unless you slip the clutch ......... which is probably what he did. If you are going to race with a 1st gear start, you should be at a minimum of 4500 rpm. He may still get a very slight jump on you, but it won't be difficult to make up the ground by the end of 2nd gear.......... then he's toast

PS: Get a downpipe
