VW Square back rotary conversion
Hey there, I've been browsing these forums in the background for a while, so I figured I would go ahead and register and introduce myself.
My name is Patrick, I'm from Georgia, and I don't have an rx7, but I have a 1966 Volkswagen Squareback that I am putting a 12a rotary motor in. Right now I'm rebuilding my carburetor and I've been following Sterling's posts that he made a while ago. Is he even on the forums anymore?
I'm also contemplating doing a half or maybe even full Bridgeport at some point in the future as well. Even possibly a blow throw turbo application if I get around to it eventually. For now though I'm taking baby steps.
So has anyone else here done any rotary swaps in a car like mine?

There was a guy, RXBeetle, that put a 13B in a VW Beetle. I can't remember the guys name but, there also was a guy that put a 20B in a Porsche 911. We also have a member with a turbo 13B in an old school Chevy Nova.

Plenty of people have done rotary swaps into beetles, Pretty sure there would be a few threads on it here and elsewhere. There is an aftermarket for this conversion. Not sure how different it would be to a wagon. I've always loved those MkIII's. Good luck with the build and keep us posted. Awesome project. Something I've always wanted to do.

Thanks! I've found some threads. Here and on other forums as well. I just piecing a little bit here and there along with my own ideas. I actually test fit the motor in the. At last night! Everything fit ok, I just need to delete the beehive and run an external oil cooler which I was going to anyway. I just may or may not have to relocate the oil filter which isn't a big deal either. Does anyone know if there is a eperate wiring harness for the coils and distributor? Trying to figure out wiring and neither of those came with my motor.

That is a pretty rad swap. I currently have a 77 REPU with a 12a that i am swapping soon for a 13b. I always wanted a nice square back.
