Long Time Mazda and Rotary Guy

I feel like I had a member ship here from about 10 years ago but maybe that was RX8 club... Either way! Here I am.

In the past, I've had an FD3S, SE3P, and lots of Miatas. This one is my current pride and joy.

Onto the new hotness! 1991 NA S5. I dragged this thing out of a field where it had been sitting for some undisclosed amount of time.

I'm building a new dedicated race/drift car to rub doors with some friends. This thing had not been driven in 6 years at least, and much to my surprise, it fired right up and ran through the gears! This was a much more complete car than I was looking for though sooooo... that motor is for sale! I don't need it were I'm going. This car is getting a big power, small block, roll cage, widebody, stripped to a bare chassis for stitch welding, custom wiring harness, etc, etc.

Its going to be a fun time! I'm looking forward to learning more about this specific chassis and getting back into more regular track driving.

Also cat tax.

Welcome to the forum! I think you have a great car to start with. It looks straight and free of rust! Not a V8 in an RX-7 fan but enjoy your build and enjoy the car when you're done!!

Im not usually a v8 in rotary car guy either which is why I was looking for a car that had a blown motor/ rolling shell. This one happened to pop up locally, and I couldn't pass it up. This car is mostly rust free but having sat out in the open for so long, everything is crumbly. The interior is trashed; the paint is trashed; the car is a Mazda; these things are expected.

The goal for this car is two fold; an advertisement to bring to local events, and be easy to drive. And seeing as almost everything that I work on these days has a carbureted V8, I think I should have one in my personal collection.

As a PSA for anyone that may be looking at this and thinking about v8 things, Granny's said he's going to stop building swap kits soon. I haven't gotten one mine yet so I cant comment on the quality but... I hope it will get my in the ballpark at least.
