I freaked first time I saw underbody neon. It was years ago, I don't even know how many......
But I as driving home from a job at like 2am, and I saw this green light on the horizon behind me. I thought I was seeing things. Well, I forgot about it, ans then 5 minutes later, a white Lingenfellter(or however you spell it) went cruising on past.....with a green underbody kit.
I guess it's not new anymore, and it's used badly a lot more nowadays, but looked killing on this car.

No... I laugh because it looks rediculous and because it serves no real purpose. Just beacause someone spends a bunch of time on their car doesnt mean I should respect them. Especially, if the time spent was done installing huge wings, crappy frp body kits and various lights/stickers.

I'm from garfield, nj and I remember when they rolled out with this car. I just stood there in shock for a while...it's worse in real life although the interior is pretty nice. The cop who drives it is actually a cool guy and used to let us drive around with him when he'd be cruising around town.

Neons, imo, are rice, but like people said, your car, your money, do what you want.

It's bad taste and hypocrisy all rolled into one.
Rynberg, I usually agree w/ you...but this one, I think you're kind of skewing the facts a little, which is natural, given your prespective.

M3s & NSXs are hard to rice out or trick out for that matter, simply because there isn't that large of an aftermarket community for them, bodywise. Not many kits out there for them.

Vipers do have kits and aftermarket aerodynamic add-ons for them, and lets not forget the huge racing stripes ppl get goin down the middle of their vipers.

Corvettes are definitely riceable. I've seen 'em. In fact, we got a purple on yellow one somewhere around here...looks like *** lol.

But again, there's 3 major factors here I think you're overlooking:
1) the lack of aftermarket styling available for these cars
2) the age group of people buying these cars (vipers, vettes, and NSXs many a time are bought by ballers trying to come off as being flashy, rather than someone who's really gonna track the car. Same w/ Ferraris and Lambos. When was the last time you hit the track and you saw exotics come up to get the crap beat out of 'em??
3) This one's a huge point. The class of the cars. I'm not saying one's better than the other, but Corvette and Viper are American Musclecars. The NSX is the rich man's daily driver (why else would you pay $80K for a $40K car?) M3s are actually dominated by a younger crowd, but the point still holds true. All these cars are not in the same class the FD is in: the sport compact/hot import class. You can argue this all you want, but this is one of those facts of life. What people view to be the core of the sport compact/hot import class are japanese cars, 99% of the time followed by huge aftermarket support. In fact, the FD, along w/ the Supra and Skyline have become icons of the sport compact/hot import scene, just as the Civic has officially become the new age hotrod.

Now whether we like this or not is irrelevant. People don't look to the FD as being a high-class exotic. Rare? Yes. High performance? Yes. Classy? No, that's what you have M3s and NSXs for. American Muscle? Nope. Vipers and Vettes fill that spot. Hot import? Hell yea. And with it come totally different characteristics of what's en vogue to do to your car. I mean, just look to the HUGE aftermarket support for these cars...it solidifes this point. If anything, I think the FD and it's owners are struggling, straddling between different classes. Wanna be an exotic, yet we're not. Run all sorts of bolts on, but they gotta be chrome and polished like muscle cars, but we're not. Wanna be reliable...well, lemme quit while I'm ahead lol

So my point is, I must respectfully say that if you're dissatissfied w/ what people do w/ a hot import, then maybe a hot import is not for you?? Cuz you kinda can't will a car into being something it's not and prob. will never be...

Just my $0.02. No hard feelings.

EDIT: PS...thanks for all the help and advice about my wheels and rims, even though you prob. think I totally defiled my FD lol...and deserve to be shot haha

No hard feelings, we'll just agree to disagree.

I HATE the "import scene". If people want to do stupid things to their Civics, I don't care. The FD is one of the last almost pure sports cars and it hurts me to see them reduced to neons and other similar ****. The fact that NOPI now has a show on Speed makes me want to puke.

BTW, I've seen more NSXs and Vipers at the track than FDs, by a long shot. And don't even get started on Vettes or S2000s, which outnumber FDs about 100:1. So, I totally disagree with your comments regarding that matter. At least the owners of those cars actually use their cars for what they were intended.

Neons are ugly. I have a little bit of rice in me (example: I like cf wings and bodykits from RE Amemiya but i'm not making my car a track car) but neons are horrible. Even chicks that i hang out with who love rims, body kits, stero's, etc. see a car with neons go by and exclaim, "that's sooooooo ugly!". I hope you don't get neons on your Rx7. To quote PCU, "Don't be that guy"

I can definitely live with that

LOL...I'm not laughing at you...I'm just imagining how you feel/react when you see this stuff. That must be tough, since that's literally where the majority of the attention given to the FD lies: in the import scene.

You know better than I do when it comes to this, so I stand corrected. But I think you got the point I was trying to make...

Don't get me wrong...I hate it when people rice out their FDs, make them trailor queens, have 500 lbs of chrome, strobes, and amps, etc...given the FD's capabilities. I guess I'm trying to get the best of the both worlds...I love the whole body kit scene (if done properly, and on higher end cars...I could care less for Civics & Integras), but at the same time I wanna push the crap outta my car, because that's why I bought her in the first place. Oh well.

didnt dodge start the whole racing stripe thing anyway? i think the viper is fast enough to warrant having stripes. they look much better with the stripes anyway.

you cant say that having a huge wing which works at a speed the car can never approach or on a fwd, or having neons for the sole purpose of attention from stupid people and negative attention from mature people is not a waste of money and stupid.
