The whole point of owning a Nak is for pure quality.
However, stay away from the CD-300. If you have to have mp3 (again, why?), go with the 500. The sound will be better because of the DAC. Much higher level than the 300.
Plus, for all those DVD people, they have decks for your car too. The 500 is a 500 dollar deck though.
But the quailty is worth it.
Enjoy.

Definitely a waste of money in a car that has any kind of exhaust. You'll never notice the subtleties that a high-end stereo will offer in a car with a modified exhaust, IMO.

I have a base burger Nakamichi cd300, I am not a mega music kinda guy, but it looks absolutely great. It even has the red lights to match my red lights in the dash. It looks so good it was worth spend just for that. It sounds great with q series mb quartz, but as I said I am not the worlds expert on these things.

If anyone is interested in purchasing a nakamichi deck try www.onlinecarstereo.com
But don't expect any sort of customer service, the lady was rude and NOT helpful. But their prices are pretty good
